About Nik
Hi there! I've been running games for eight years, mostly dabbling with 5e/5.5e and homebrew systems. Typically, I make up my own worlds rather than running games in the Forgotten Realms. From steampunk to superheroes, and even the Wild West, I enjoy stepping out of the traditional high fantasy setting from time to time. I strive to be player-centric and specialize in introducing new players to TTRPGs, though I've run many games for experienced players as well. I pride myself on styling my games around what the players want. While some want loads of combat and opportunities to showcase their characters' abilities, others are invested in lore and roleplay. I work to meet all of these wants and needs!

I became a GM because
I love seeing players' faces light up when they have a great moment at the table. Could be that they felt empowered in their abilities as a player, the first time they roll a Nat20, or anything in between. Helping players find that outlet and escapism is one of my great joys in life.
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
- "Observant" - "Flexible" - "Considerate"
When I'm not running games I'm...
reading through 5e.tools, battling cinephilia, and spoiling my cats (their names are Jamie and Finn)!
How Nik runs games
I try to create immersive worlds for players, encouraging them to explore and interact not only with the people (NPCs) in it, but also the spaces. This translates to combat as well where I want to provide opportunities for players to think outside of the box and interact with the space around them to overcome challenging foes/scenarios. I love both the quiet and chaotic moments of role play, so I provide players with opportunities for both, whether that be with me or within the party. I also want the game to have an emotional impact, so I incorporate backstories, stakes, and plot beats meant to stir up feelings. Fun, but with weight!
