About John (The Asha'man)
Hello adventurers! I’ve been immersed in the world of D&D 5e for several years, actively running a dedicated, long-term campaign that blends rich storytelling with tactical action. My goal as a DM is to build an collaborative experience where your character’s choices genuinely shape the world around them. While I maintain a healthy respect for the official rules, my absolute guiding philosophy is the Rule of Cool—if you have a creative, cinematic idea, I will always work with you to try and make it happen. My tables generally feature a mature, PG-13 to soft-R tone depending on the narrative arc, focusing on high-stakes drama and organic world-building. Above all, I am dedicated to fostering a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment. If you bring a collaborative spirit and courtesy for your fellow players to the table, there is a seat waiting for you. Let's build an unforgettable story together!

I got started GMing...
When my main game GM had to take two sessions off. So, i decided to run two one shots for the rest of the players online and everyone had a great time. That let to one of those players suggesting an in-person game. And, I've been playing and GMing ever since.
My favorite books are
The Wheel of Time series. Hence the name The Asha'man. I loved the idea of fate bending things but only so far, a power with two sides that work together but against each other too. I didn't ever finish them, but I restarted the series recently. So, I hope it ends well! lol
My favorite shows/movies are
Favorite Movie: The Usual Suspects with Shawshank Redemption as a close second. My fovorite show is The X-Files. I think I liked the X-Files and Usual Suspects for the same reason. They both had this odd balance of humor and seriousness. Sort of like how I try to run my games.
How John (The Asha'man) runs games
My GM philosophy is simple: it’s your story, and I’m here to facilitate it. I typically favor a smooth blend of roleplay and combat, but that balance will shift from one session to the next. I believe a living world needs vibrant characters. I give my NPCs distinct voices and personalities to make your interactions feel real and engaging. They might sound a hair different from session to session, but I promise total commitment to making them feel unique. You will never be railroaded at my table. I approach campaign design by setting up the board, understanding the variables, and letting your decisions dictate the direction. You control where you go, and I adapt the world dynamically around you. I love being surprised by player creativity, and I'm always ready to roll with whatever wild ideas you bring to the table. My best memories are easily the ones where I set something up for my players and they did something completely unexpected.

Rules are...
Rules are a great place to start and for the most part should be followed. But, I do like the Rule of Cool when it makes sense in a story or mechanically. Got an idea? I'd love to hear it and we can figure it out.
When it comes to voices
I do my best to make each sound different. I'm not a voice actor, but I like to make you feel like you are interacting with unique characters.
John (The Asha'man)'s ideal table
My ideal table is one where everyone spends a few minutes at the begining catching up, trading jokes, and are genuinely happy to be playing together. I love players who play their character as they designed them and use their own unique voices. Ideally players at my table are open to different ideas. Open to bending the rules here or there when it makes sense. And, are supportive of everyone else.
