About Hunter

Since I was a kid I have had a passion for stories, whether it be books, movies, video games or television. Eventually it led me to discover D&D. Well, first I watched the D&D movie with Jeromy Irons and Marlon Wayans, but a lot of people say that shouldn’t count. Regardless, I found D&D actual play videos online which eventually got me to Critical Role. Soon after I got my first group together and starting running my own game. For the last ten years, I have been running my own campaigns, mostly homebrewed, with a few published adventures sprinkled in. With my love of stories, I work to craft games where my players can be the characters they want to play. I have experience running and playing games using various systems including: D&D 5e and 5.5, Daggerheart, Monster of the Week, Power Rangers RPG, Cypher System, & Vampire the Masquerade.

How Hunter runs games

I view my games as a group crafted story, I’m keeping the world spinning but its the choices of my players that pushing the immediate action. What I love is taking the campaign and weaving my player’s characters, their backstories, motivation and goals into it. From there I try to match the energy of the table. If you want crunchy tactical combat, I work to kill your characters. If you are looking for role play, I will fill the world with characters and challenges to give you the room to make choices. As for my style as a GM, I tend to run my games more cinematically. I set my scenes and see what the players are going to do and then react. I want the characters to surprise me with a choice that I don’t see coming. I tend to focus my prep on making my games and worlds feel as lived in and realistic as I can while at the table. Lastly I work fairly hard building unique NPCs, locations, and creature stat blocks to keep the games fresh and distinct. The one thing I can promise is that I’m going to try my best make sure my players get something out of the game that they enjoy.
