About Keith

I’m Keith, and for the past four years, I’ve been playing DnD with my kid and we love it. For the past 3 years I've been cutting my teeth omn the craft of Dungeon Mastering with a single focus: player agency and collective storytelling. Whether I’m running a high-stakes campaign for adults or managing the beautiful chaos of a school D&D club, my goal is to create a space where players feel confident enough to truly inhabit their characters. I specialize in welcoming new players to the hobby. I believe the learning process is a two-way street; there is a unique magic in teaching the "ropes" that keeps the game fresh for me every single time. My experience with younger players has taught me how to keep a table engaged, keep the energy high, and—most importantly—ensure that the "wonder" of the world is always front and center.

I became a GM because

I love my kid. He and I started playing at the same time and it really is something that we bond over. We started a DnD club at his school and I DM there, and I wanted an adventure table I knew he would be safe and have fun at, so I volunteer at our local shop running weekly games there.

My favorite books are

By far The Malazan Book of the Fallen series by Steven Erikson. I love that world and am currently writing a homebrew campaign set there.

How Keith runs games

I run a focused, objective table. My job is to provide the world, the mechanics, and the opposition; your job is to decide how to navigate it. I don't let ego or railroading get in the way of a good session. I have zero patience for gatekeeping. I specialize in taking people who have never touched a d20 and turning them into confident players. I explain the the rules as we go if needed—and just as importantly, why and when it’s okay to break them for the sake of the story. I don’t force a specific split between roleplay and combat. If the party wants to spend two hours negotiating, we do that. If you want to fight every NPC you meet, we do that too. However, the world is reactive. Every action has a logical consequence; how you navigate those consequences is where the real game happens. I leverage technology to eliminate the "clutter" of TTRPGs. Using tools like D&D Beyond, AboveVTT, Syrinscape and Discord I ensure the math and tracking are handled efficiently so we can focus on the action. As a 3D printing enthusiast and gamer I bring a deep appreciation for the visual side of the hobby. I try to use high-quality maps and detailed assets to ensure that tactical positioning is clear and the world feels tangible. I'm always looking for new toys. My experience running games for everyone from school clubs to seasoned adults means I know how to keep the energy high. I ensure the game keeps moving forward and that every player has the tools they need to stay engaged.

My perfect party mix is

Chaos honestly. I always hear parties planning what class they need to be balanced. That's fun, but so is 6 Barbarians rolling through the realm with no plan at all.
