About Christian Sullivan

I’ve been a Dungeon Master for over 10 years, and in that time I’ve learned that the best games live somewhere between careful planning and absolute chaos. My style blends organized storytelling, detailed worldbuilding, and quick improv at the table. I take meticulous notes, track player choices, and love building stories that feel personal to the characters. I want your decisions to matter, your backstory to show up in meaningful ways, and your victories to feel earned. I’m a big believer in atmosphere, roleplay, and memorable NPCs. I love doing character voices, bringing scenes to life, and using my background in stage acting to make the world feel more alive. Whether you’re negotiating with a suspicious noble, crawling through a haunted ruin, or making a terrible deal with something that should have stayed buried, I want the table to feel pulled into the moment. Outside of the game, I run a podcast and create original TTRPG content, including homebrew adventures, mechanics, monsters, and settings. My main homebrew world is Alaria, a low-fantasy, dark, gritty setting filled with ancient secrets, dangerous magic, political tension, and hard choices. At my table, new players are welcome, veteran players are challenged, and everyone gets a chance to shine. I run games with a strong focus on story, character, tension, and fun. If you want a campaign that feels cinematic, reactive, and full of mystery, danger, and heart, I’d love to roll dice with you.

I became a GM because

I love to create. I love what being creative with a group of like-minded people does for the soul. Ever since I was a kid, I’ve wanted to share my ideas with my friends and build stories together. Being a GM allows me to do that within the structure of a game system.

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

Engaging, Honest, Respectful

When I'm not running games I'm...

I host and produce the Mystery Date Podcast with my wife, I also work on my own TTRPG products. I love to create and draw maps, write stories, play video games and spend time with my family.

How Christian Sullivan runs games

My GM style is player-forward and narrative-driven, while still keeping the world alive, reactive, and grounded. I want the characters to feel like the heart of the story, but I also want the world around them to breathe. Factions move, rumors spread, monsters hunt, and choices have consequences. I believe player characters are extraordinary. Even a level 4 hero is already far beyond the common folk of the world. That does not mean the world bends around them, but it does mean their actions matter. When heroes make choices, people notice. For me, the goal of a TTRPG is to create stories worth telling after the dice are put away. The table is where the fun happens, but the moments people retell later are what make a campaign legendary. I love rewarding clever thinking, strong roleplay, creative problem-solving, and narrative choices that make the story better. I also enjoy challenge and a touch of realism. My worlds can be dangerous, enemies can adapt, and careless choices can have consequences. I want victories to feel earned, losses to feel meaningful, and every session to feel like part of a story worth remembering.

Rules are...

There to bring structure to the game. They aren't there to hinder our play or slow down the table at every move. Rules should be respected, but not always set in stone.

When it comes to voices

I may not be a professional voice actor, but I will do voices all night long. Some people may end up sounding similar but the heart is always there!

Christian Sullivan's ideal table

My table should be respectful, but there’s always room for playful banter. I like a casual vibe, but I still try to keep things organized and moving. Players who enjoy telling stories, engaging with the group, and letting their characters grow will fit really well with my play style. When we play, we follow the Rule of Cool. I’m not going to let the rules get in the way of an awesome moment that pushes the story forward. At the end of the day, I think the best part of playing is the stories we get to tell afterward. We’re all here to build something together, something fun, exciting, and memorable enough that years later we’re still talking about it.
