About Lars

My GM Style: The "Living World" Director The Experience: My style is often described as investigative, narrative, and deeply immersive. I act more like a film director for an ensemble cast than a mere referee. My goal is to create a stage where your actions have weight and the world reacts organically to your every move. 1. Multisensory Immersion: I don’t just describe what you see. I describe the biting cold of a Hamburg winter, the smell of shisha and baklava in 'Little Istanbul', or the rhythmic thrumming of a magical artifact. In the Matrix, I replace dry grids with vivid metaphors, making hacking a cinematic experience. 2. A Reactive Sandbox: Your character's backstory is not just flavor—it’s the plot. I integrate your history into the world. If you hold a grudge, it will come back to haunt you. If you show mercy, you might find an unexpected ally. There are no "invisible walls"; you choose the path, whether it’s through diplomacy, stealth, or brute force. 3. Deep, Memorable NPCs: From K-Pop-loving Troll arms dealers to mysterious, philosophical mentors—my NPCs have their own agendas, quirks, and secrets. They speak in dialects, react emotionally, and will challenge your moral compass. 4. High Stakes & Fair Play: I play "Grim & Gritty". Actions have consequences. I am a "Rule of Cool" GM, but I value transparency. I communicate difficulty levels openly so you can make informed, tactical decisions. Curiosity is rewarded; recklessness is handled realistically.

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be

- Shadowrun (Nothing goes over a Heist to Kill time) - Dungeons and Dragons 5E 2014 (For Storytelling on the Campfire) - Dark Heresy 1 Edition. (Because: Nothing can be more fucked up than 40k)

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

- diligent - chaotic - fair

When I'm not running games I'm...

- plan the next sessions. - write my novels. - tinker with my software projects. - work on my worlds - try to relax with a few rounds of World of Tanks, Arc Raiders or Guild Wars 2.

How Lars runs games

I would describe my style of game mastering as follows: I am a cooperative storyteller. The players' decisions come first for me, as do their consequences. Everything we do has consequences, even doing nothing. When it comes to combat, I ensure that the fight remains exciting by allowing monsters to gain or lose abilities during the fight. Hit points are also more of a narrative device to maintain excitement. I always use safety tools so that all players at the table feel comfortable.

Lars's ideal table

In short: I accept anyone at my gaming table who respects other people's boundaries and makes sure everyone has fun. In detail: I don't care if you're a newbie or a veteran. I can explain most things. You're in the right place at my table if you want to experience a story with me and the others, tell it, and be part of it. My goal is for everyone to have fun.
