About Tyler Upton
Hiya! My name is Tyler, I've been playing and running TTRPGs for the better part of a decade now! I grew up on an abundance of Fantasy and Science Fiction / Science Fantasy, with my two big influences being Tolkien's Legendarium and The Star Wars Universe (both Old and New Canon). I enjoy telling stories, crafting dramatic conflict and watching my players overcome hardship to become heroes! I started my GM-ing journey in 5th Edition Dungeons and Dragons, but I've also fallen in love with Fantasy Flight Game's Edge of the Empire Star Wars system, as well as dabbling a bit with 7th Edition Call of Cthulhu. My biggest goal as a GM is to make sure everyone is having fun and telling a story that will stick with folks!

How Tyler Upton runs games
Roll Play and Narrative are my bread and butter! I tend to focus on telling a good story, weaving character backstories into the wider narrative arcs and doing my best to immerse players in the world around their characters.

If my games were Movies they'd be directed by...
I think if my games, especially my Star Wars games, were movies James Gunn would be the most fitting director. His ability to balance stakes, humor and heart is something I truly admire.
My favorite trope is...
Found family, absolutely. As someone with a rough family history, their is something so wholesome and compelling about a good Found Family story.
When it comes to voices
I try to give every NPC a voice, even if it is just their cadence or tone, in order to immerse my players.
Tyler Upton's ideal table
I think a perfect table is one that can go with the Ebb and Flow of storytelling. Meaning, creating characters that gell with the vibe of the setting and giving them detail and life; while also leaving room for me, as the GM, to weave that story in a way that can keep them surprised and engaged.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
If you're into all things Star Wars, the campy and the heartfelt, you're going to love my table!
I love it when a player
I love when a player gives me their backstory with holes or mysteries in it and when prompted just say "surprise me".
I think min/maxing...
Min/Maxing is not a "sin" at my table, but I also really appreciate when someone chooses to play a character with flaws or suboptimal stats for narrative purposes.
