About Keenan

I'm Keenan, and my company is Brush & Bard! We are a hobby shop that hosts events, workshops, and paid games in the Augusta, Georgia area. I’m a Game Master with over ten years of experience running everything from Dungeons & Dragons to Cyberpunk Red. I’ve always loved games that cut right to the action—where every scene feels like a turning point and every decision matters. My style leans roleplay-light and story-driven, with an emphasis on clear goals that pull the party together. I like to set the stage, hand you the tools, and watch what creative chaos unfolds. My favorite part of GMing is crafting cinematic moments born from crunchy mechanics—when the dice hit the table and suddenly the story explodes into something unforgettable. Whether I’m guiding brand new adventurers through their first dungeon crawl or helping a seasoned crew navigate moral gray zones, I aim to make every table feel energized, collaborative, and fun. If you enjoy fast-paced storytelling, tactical decision-making, and games that reward teamwork, you’ll probably fit right in at my table.

I became a GM because

I wanted to do more theater in high school and needed a dramatic outlet. The hat-wearing of being a GM fills that need for me perfectly. Tabletop roleplaying games are the ultimate way to take a break from reality.

My favorite shows/movies are

My comfort show is Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, which is a unique series about a woman processing her mental health and relationship issues through imaginary musical numbers. I am a big fan of blockbuster movies that involve aliens or dinosaurs. My goal is to make my games feel like exciting action movies.

When I'm not running games I'm...

taking my dog on walks, hosting parties, playing Baldur's Gate 3 with my girlfriend, losing games at board game club, and playing (also losing at) Dota 2.

How Keenan runs games

When you sit down at my table, you can expect games that move with purpose and energy. I like to skip the filler and drop players right into the moment where things start to matter — when blades are drawn, alarms are blaring, or the plan is about to go sideways. My goal is to keep momentum alive, so every scene feels like it’s leading somewhere exciting. I’m a roleplay-light GM, but that doesn’t mean character depth gets lost — I just prefer to show it through action and decision-making rather than long monologues. I build adventures around clear objectives and meaningful choices, giving players a sense of direction while still leaving plenty of room for creativity and chaos. Combat at my tables tends to be tactical, cinematic, and high-stakes. I love crunchy systems that make every move count, where teamwork and quick thinking turn the tide of battle. You’ll find that I value collaboration over competition — your party will succeed or fail together, and those victories always feel earned. Whether we’re delving through ancient ruins, dodging corporate hit squads, or facing moral dilemmas under fire, you can count on my games to be fast-paced, story-rich, and grounded in thrilling mechanics. Expect cinematic storytelling, engaging challenges, and a table that celebrates teamwork above all else.

I once ran a session...

of Vampire: The Masquerade V5 where I didn't setup the table and had my characters play-act the entire session standing. We would change scenes with ambient lighting, and roll dice on a side table when needed. Definitely the most esoteric GM experience I've had so far. Watch out for those VtM fans!

My games focus on...

fun. Simple as that.. I am a gambling man at heart, and I wanna see STAKES. I live off of the blood, sweat, and tears of player characters! Skip to the thrills, and 80s montage the space between.

Rules are...

limits for players and GMs. They keep the game from falling apart and becoming a chaotic, un-fun mess. That being said, I give in to the temptation of bending rules for players with clever, collaborative ideas more often than I care to admit.

Keenan's ideal table

I think players looking for a fast-paced experience will have a good time at my table. At my table I try to define the objectives and obstacles as clearly and quickly as possible, then give the reigns to the players. I expect my players to know the rules pertaining to their characters, but if they don't, I am fine with getting them up to speed. I never leave a player behind!
