About Big Bad Evil Gaming

Hi, I’m Andrew! I was first introduced to TTRPGs through Dungeons & Dragons 3.5 over 15 years ago, and since then I’ve played in many campaigns—but I’ve spent even more time behind the screen as a GM. I love creating worlds that draw inspiration from the media I grew up with, blending humor, drama, and the unexpected. Specializing in Dungeons and Dragons 5E, I also love running unique games like Kids on Brooms and Everyone is John- ensuring a dynamic and flexible experience for every group. My GM style is flexible: I enjoy running lighthearted, roleplay-driven adventures inspired by shows like Dimension 20, but I’m equally comfortable leaning into darker, horror-tinged stories when the table wants something more intense. Over the years, I’ve consumed countless hours of TTRPG content (Critical Role, NADDPOD, Worlds Beyond Number, Acquisitions Incorporated, and more), which has shaped how I approach pacing, tone, and collaborative storytelling. Outside of gaming, I’m a proud Eagle Scout and full-time Workforce Development professional—so whether it’s guiding adventurers through a dungeon or helping people chart their real-world careers, I’m all about creating supportive spaces where people can thrive.

I became a GM because

Watching my GMs spin epic stories first inspired me to try GMing. Adventure Zone’s Balance campaign and Acquisitions Incorporated’s “C Team” gave me the push. Now ten years later I’m still hooked—constantly learning, growing, and creating unforgettable adventures.

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

Flexible. Immersive. Supportive. I adapt to the group’s playstyle, create props and soundscapes to bring worlds to life, and make sure everyone feels welcome and engaged at the table.

How Big Bad Evil Gaming runs games

My GMing style strikes a balance between roleplay, exploration, and combat so that every type of player has a chance to shine. While I love roleplay-heavy storytelling, I also keep the pace moving with tactical, fast, and cinematic combat, as well as puzzles, traps, and other challenges to keep players thinking. A good mystery is often at the heart of my adventures—I enjoy giving players secrets to uncover and twists to solve, no matter the genre or setting. At my table, players have true freedom to shape the story. Whether we’re following a published adventure or diving into one of my homebrew worlds, I don't say “no” to creativity. I bring NPCs to life with distinct voices, quirks, and personalities (I’m not Matt Mercer, but I like to have fun making characters memorable). My favorite tones shift naturally with the story: sometimes lighthearted and humorous, other times dark and psychological. Just like life, both joy and tension can exist side by side. To help immerse the group, I use visual aids, music, battle maps, and miniatures/terrain—which I 3D print myself. I’m equally comfortable running a single magical one-shot, a short arc, or a long-term campaign, since each type of story has its own rewards. Above all, I cultivate a collaborative, supportive environment. I guide new players while encouraging veterans to lift others up, not hog the spotlight. Safety tools and Session 0s ensure everyone feels welcome, respected, and engaged.
