About Audley
Heya hiya, goats and ghouls! My name is Audley, and I've been GM-ing play-by-post role-plays since circa 2011! I've made a few approaches toward live campaigns and have even led a two-week daily campaign for a group of patients while staying in a hospital. It was a great recreational activity that had everyone in the unit hyped and focused on something other than why we were all there. I am a fiction writer with a passion for worldbuilding, character creation, and developing original species that I work to adapt to whatever system I can to flesh out my worlds all the more. I absolutely love homebrew elements in my game and always encourage people to be as creative as their heart desires. My games focus on character growth and plot progression, but I'm not afraid to incorporate technical elements where they may create unexpected conflict and engaging developments. I write a wide range of topics from light-hearted, cozy tales to psychological thrillers that will have you on the edge of your seat for weeks on end! I hope to meet many creative minds like myself, and I look forward to sharing my worlds and stories with all those invested and willing to build off of the things I create!

I got started GMing...
In 2011 when I got up and moved to a whole new state midway through high school. I moved in the summer, and there were no other teens in my neighborhood who were close to my age, so I spent most of my time online running my own play-by-post websites with original stories I ran for years on end!
People are always surprised when I tell them
Literally anything about my upbringing or any of my past partners. I've had a lot of rough luck, but it makes for a lot of good inspiration for my darker stories.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Roleplaying with my friends, working on my personal novels and screenplays, designing merchandise, playing computer games, or obsessing over a new worldbuilding idea.
How Audley runs games
I am a roleplay-heavy GM who aims to focus on characters and their growth through the campaign while tying in elements of their past that may get in the way of their individual goals. I believe strongly in story arcs and episodic challenges that push your characters to adapt and either better themselves or spiral down a path of destruction, depending on the story you, personally, want to tell. Technical elements will be scarce, but not non-existent, as I find the unpredictable to be especially engaging in story and character progression, but if there is ever a moment where you feel that straying from a roll would be more compelling to a scene, I am always happy to listen to the input of my players!

I once ran a session...
While an inpatient at a psychiatric hospital. We stole a bunch of d6s from various board games, and I built a system on the fly. I helped everyone build characters, and we played nearly every day for the two weeks I was there. It was an absolute blast and everyone loved it!
Rules are...
Like guidelines. They're there, and you can look at them. Touch them. Play with them. Reach for them when you really, really need them. In the end, though, we're here to have fun, so why let a bit of text tell us what our characters can or can't do?
When it comes to voices
I do my best, and you'll hear a wide range of accents, but don't expect any consistency with more elaborate voices!
Audley's ideal table
If you're big into roleplaying, exploring vast worlds, and pushing your characters to the absolute limit in their development, you'll fit right in at my table. I strive to create a fun and friendly atmosphere where people are free to joke around and offer commentary, both in and out of character— well, as long as meta knowledge stays within our world and anything the characters shouldn't know stays out of the game. I invite anyone with a creative mind to join in on the worldbuilding and provide as much yes-and'ing as they can. A party is a team, and the GM is just another part of that team; working together and supporting one another is the only way for us to truly 'win' in the end.

I love it when a player
Is passionate about their character and the goals they have set for said character. The more ideas someone has for their character, honestly, the better. Never fear that you're becoming a main character through the effort you put into developing your character when you're sitting at my table!
I think it's a red flag when players...
Don't get along with the other players. I understand that opinions and ideals will clash in any group, but if you can't put aside your views and agree to disagree on a point for the duration of the game, I'll have no place for you at my table. I expect all my players to be mature, rational adults.
My table is not the place for...
Rule-hardy, technical players. Combat is not something I focus on, and the only time I ask for rolls is when I feel the randomization will benefit the story or challenge the player's character in a way that progresses their development. I wing a lot of my judgement and incorporate a lot of homebrew.
