About Bemkel
I have been an avid player of TTRPG's for over 23 years now. I started playing around 10 years old and have never looked back. D&D 3.0 was my first system and a little after that I began to DM after getting my hands on D&D 3.5 and have been DMing ever since. While rare I occasionally get the chance to be a player but the majority of my time in TTRPG's has been as a DM. I have played/ran several systems including D&D 3.0, 3.5, 5e, Pathfinder, Call of Cthulu, Vampire the Masquerade, Star Wars Fantasy Flight, and GURPS. I firmly believe that while their may be many base rule sets the table is really what defines a game. Each table is going to have it's own unique version of whatever rule set you are playing with and that is part of the beauty of TTRPG's. Different groups are going to have different needs and wants and that is part of the fun of playing and running these games. I have run many modules and not once were they ever the same. Even more so for the homebrew content I run. Aside from the games mentioned above I would love to run/play in some other systems as well. Avatar Legends, Fate, Cyberpunk, Shadowrun, Stars Without Numbers, Traveller, Daggerheart, and Star Wars d6.

How Bemkel runs games
I like to think that TTRPG's are gambling with the outcome of a story. You play your character and make your actions and then with the roll of a die the direction of the story can change. But no matter if there is success or failure I find that at the end the story is always good. I think that is the main difference, in TTRPG's it's not the house that always wins, but the table. My DM style is very eclectic with a focus on role play and story telling. I like to balance designing combat encounters between story or world telling based combat and puzzle based encounters. I try to alter my games to the table understanding that different groups want different things. While I love all kinds of stories and games I do tend towards high fantasy the most and love getting into role play and character interactions. I enjoy crafting great character driven stories that allow for a lot of player freedom as well as diving into action and consequence. While high fantasy is always my safe space I love getting into other types of stories, worlds, and themes. Lovecraftian horror is a very close second to High Fantasy for me, even more in combination.
