About Eric

I have been a Dungeon Master for many years and have run multi-year campaigns with my friends in-person. I enjoy games where I start weak and death is just around the corner, like Warhammer Fantasy Roleplaying Game and Call of Cthulhu. I love dark, gritty, and lethal systems that encourage players to be tactical. My favorite games are those that incorporate your resources into the game and allow the players to approach problems from creative angles. Does your character own a boat? How many tons of grain can he fit in that boat? How much gold can he sell it for? Where does he put that gold? Weren't we supposed to be slaying a dragon? Oh, yeah, I used my grain-gold to hire an army to beat the dragon - you expected me to walk in to his cave alone?!

How Eric runs games

I love roleplaying unique characters, doing voices, and making you feel immersed. I love deduction and mysteries, but I also love straightforward shoot 'em ups. Depends on the setting. I love crafting tactical, high-stakes combat that is highly lethal and not always fair (sometimes discretion is the better part of valor!).

roleplaying, deduction, and dangerous scenarios. Fighting isn't always the best option. Sometimes it is the only option - but the only way you'll survive is if you prepare ahead of time and know what you're going to be fighting!

Rules are...

to be followed (generally). Creativity comes from limitation, but sometimes the rules on the edge-cases aren't very fleshed out and need some... help (looking at you Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay Mounted Combat rules!).

When it comes to voices

I do them. I've got like... 4-5 British ones, 2-3 Russian ones, a German one, a French one, a Spanish one, an Italian one, and more.

Eric's ideal table

I tend to run games with lots of NPCs and lots of players. I have run games with 8 players at the table and 150 NPCs on the board in a single battle (although the average is usually 20-30). If you know what you want to do when your turn comes around, you'll be a great player. However, I also try to let everyone have his or her own moment to shine. If I noticed someone has been quiet, I will call on you to make sure you get a chance to do something.
