I like using the base rules as a spring board. Keeping things grounded but adding or shifting things for the sake of fun while trying to keep things balanced between the players. For a campaign or one-shot, I like to do things in waves, downtime, story moment, downtime, story moment, keep things fresh and gives players the time to enjoy getting into their moments.

of D&D where no one rolled above a 10 for the first time on anything. "I kick down the door." Crit fail. "You trigger the easiest trap to dodge. Roll a DEX save." Fail. Everyone was getting sick of it half way through but a few NPCs and a potion of fire breathing later and we were all laughing.

I start with setting up a discord channel with chats and messages. Players are free to interact outside of session and ask me questions as well. Then with either theater of the mind or a sites aid, have a session. I would try and keep in contact as I would love to have people find the right groups they want, trying to find role-players and wargamers alike.
