About Milo Italia

I've been playing TTRPGs since I was seven. I started with Warhammer, introduced to me by my dad, and have since moved on to Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition. I love D&D, and I love meeting people who share that love. I've GM'd over ten campaigns now, and every player I've ever had has endorsed me as a good game master. I love bringing a smile to people's faces as a game master, but I am also more than capable of creating difficult scenarios for players. I try to run all of my games efficiently, but not at the expense of anyone's fun and enjoyment. I truly hope I can become a part of this community.

I became a GM because

I had a great first GM, and I wanted to provide that same experience for others to help them while they're getting into D&D

My favorite books are

The Dark Tower Saga, by Stephen King

People are always surprised when I tell them

I am a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu World League competitor, and have also studied Buddhism for over a year. Can you tell my favorite class is the Monk?

How Milo Italia runs games

My forte has always been in combat. I have many very skilled players who can attest to my ability to challenge even the most experienced of adventurers in combat. However, I also very much enjoy roleplay. I enjoy creating small self-contained stories within worlds, little pockets of interactions that can make a difference in an adventurer's day. Honestly, I'm more than willing to cater to whatever split of combat and roleplay/exploration that a group of players prefers.

I once ran a session...

That lasted 8 hours and had 14 players

I prep by

Listening to some music that matches the tone I want the session to take, while reviewing the story and characters that are intended to appear in the session, as well as the monsters and their stat blocks that are to be used.

Rules are...

Important to the integrity of the game, and I try to uphold them as well as possible to maintain both the enjoyment of the players as well as the essence of the game

Milo Italia's ideal table

In my silly ideal world, the session time would be split up as 60%-ish roleplay, with meaningful and silly interactions alike. 40% would be combat, which would usually be fairly challenging and leave the party reeling from the experience. I've done a lot of challenge running on CRPGs such as Baldur's Gate 3 and Solasta: Crown of the Magister, so I very much enjoy balancing combats for various difficulties.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table

Meaningful combat that serves the purposes of the narrative

I think it's a red flag when players...

tune out and don't pay attention when it's not their turn, or go silent during roleplay because they're just waiting for the next fight

I think min/maxing...

Is a really cool part of D&D, and I especially enjoy adapting my monster selection and challenge levels based on the people I am GMing for. I love min-maxing as a player, and I love seeing others experiment with it in my games.
