About Kriz Erick
I've been playing and DM'ing for dungeons and dragons ever since the release of 5th edition, in both home games as well as online for friends. Since then I've expanded into other systems such as pbta, cypher, and fabula ultima. I'm looking to make the jump into DM-for-hire as a supporting gig for my main passion, writing fiction.

My favorite shows/movies are
Movies: How to Train Your Dragon, Millennium Actress, Finding Forrester Shows: Cyberpunk Edgerunners, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Delicious in Dungeon
My favorite system of all Time is
Fabula Ultima! I love a system that has interesting jrpg-style combat, enables collaborative worldbuilding, and encourages the over-the-top type of storytelling that inevitably results in the need to kill a god.
When I'm not running games I'm...
I'm writing fiction about my homebrew settings! These worlds aren't just for players to play in, but also to learn about by reading about other characters and stories.
How Kriz Erick runs games
I enjoy gm'ing roleplay and theatrical style combat, meaning an emphasis on environmental objectives on top of tactical combat. Expect a good amount of usage of clocks, montage challenges, and incorporating character background stories into the main narrative. I want folks to be invested :)

I once ran a session...
that was a combination christmas and halloween special (the halloween special was repeatedly delayed until the two were combined) where the players had to kill krampus
My favorite trope is...
Evil Churches. Romance with Dragons. Evil Churches that won't let you romance the dragons.
When it comes to voices
I prefer personality instead of accents. Unless the accent is quebecois french, at which point there is always at least one NPC with that accent. I apologize in advance to any French Canadians at my table.
Kriz Erick's ideal table
I like an easy-going style where everyone is very familiar with each other and are generally on the same page with the vibe they want to have for their campaign. That vibe might be different between tables, but I appreciate not having to change modes all the time within the same campaign.

I think metagaming...
can be a good thing if it helps the story to proceed in a natural way. I don't see tabletop as a players vs GM scenario, but as players vs environmental circumstances. Collaborative problem solving that fits the narrative is the ultimate goal for any campaign in my opinion!
I think min/maxing...
is a very enjoyable and valid aspect of making a character. Playing tabletop games are often about living out power fantasies and having the strength to overcome evil, so I think those aspects are compatible with my style of DM'ing. I want to showcase everyone's strengths!
My table is not the place for...
Players who exclusively care about numbers. Not engaging with the setting and campaign and just running a combat simulator doesn't make the most of my abilities as a dungeon master. I'm willing to accommodate that for friends trying something out, but I would not enjoy it if it was with strangers.
