About Legendary Actions
I'm an attorney and represented voice actor based out of Pittsburgh, PA. With almost a decade of VO experience, a background in theatre and film acting, and two years of DMing D&D 5e, I want to help others enjoy the game I love so much.

I became a GM because
I fell in love with D&D after years of lampooning it for one reason or another. I want to help as many people as possible learn to enjoy and love the game that's brought me some of the best memories with my friends and allowed me to explore and stoke my creativity in ways I didn't think possible.
I got started GMing...
after playing D&D for a while. I wanted to try my hand at it, and I wrote a one-shot based on a portion of Dracula. My friends had a blast with it, and it's been an itch I couldn't fully scratch since!
My favorite books are
In order: The Bible, the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, and Bram Stoker's Dracula. The first (among many things) sets the state for human creativity, the second is the birth of modern high fantasy, and the third opened the door for me into gothic horror that I carry with me today.
How Legendary Actions runs games
I am VERY much a "rule of cool" DM. I prioritize players enjoying the game without sacrificing its mechanics or core attributes. I am not a rules lawyer to a fault - we follow the rules to be sure. But, as DM, I bend them when it fits the story or - especially - when players show creativity, humor, skill, bravery, etc. (Just ask the group of mine that polymorphed a Nightwalker into a bear and used a spirit dragon to hurl it back into the portal to the Negative Plane). Player enjoyment is my top priority. I want players to feel safe to express themselves and experience the game as they see fit. Also, I LOVE giving players' characters a personal payoff. So, for campaigns, I try to incorporate player backstories into the campaign without forcing it.

I deal with rules issues by...
If it's a case where I misread the rule, spell, weapon, etc. - I will happily admit I was wrong and move forward. However, I am a "rule of cool," if there is an especially cool, witty, creative, or inspiring solution or action proposed by a player - even if not totally in line with rules - I'm game.
I prep by
getting to know my players and their characters' backstories. I review encounter notes, stat blocks, and likely scenarios. However, I learned long ago I don't need to over-prepare. My players tell the story, I just roll with the punches!
When it comes to voices
I try to use my background as a voice actor to bring different characters to life. I can't promise every single NPC will have a unique voice, and I know my limits! But, I love to have fun with voices and sound effects.
Legendary Actions's ideal table
Players who like to have fun but get the job done always have a place at my table. New players are MOST welcome. If you're a rules lawyer, or someone who LOVES the nitty gritty details of the game - I'm not the one for you. I care about the story and the payoffs my players have.

I am for a vibe that's...
fun but ready to get serious when the situation demands it. There's a time to adopt a goblin, then there's the time to lock in and defeat the lich.
I love it when a player
thinks outside the box and comes up with a creative solution to a situation! One player (a warlock/bard) was in the middle of a sure TPK - and he asked me if he could invoke his patron for assisstance by a performance check on his "lute." His creative thinking saved the party (and the day!).
My table is not the place for...
"main characters." This D&D is a COLLABRATIVE story-telling game. I understand that some people take the lead, and that's fine. But, monopolizing the game because you want to live out the movie in your head at everyone's expense is not for my table.
