About Joe Kehoe

Hi, I’m Joe! I’ve been playing D&D for over seven years and have spent several of those as a Dungeon Master. I specialize in welcoming and onboarding new players, something I’ve been doing for several years now. I work with Baldman Games, the organization partnered with Wizards of the Coast to run official D&D games at conventions. Through this work, I regularly run Learn to Play sessions and help brand new players get comfortable with the rules, mechanics, and flow of the game. Outside of convention play, I also run my own Learn to Play games in my own time. In these sessions, I intentionally balance new and experienced players at the same table, creating an environment where beginners can learn at their own pace while veteran players stay engaged and supportive. I’ve also run several long term campaigns that have each spanned over two years, successfully maintaining player commitment, character growth, and ongoing story arcs over extended periods of time. Tabletop RPGs are an incredible hobby that many more people would enjoy if given the opportunity, they can just be difficult to get into at first. My goal is to help bridge that gap by making D&D approachable, welcoming, and fun, and to introduce more people to this amazing hobby.

My favorite system of all Time is

Is the one I know best 5e (2024 is even better). With my focus on new players I really think it has the best balance of ease to learn and depth.

How Joe Kehoe runs games

The point of the game is for us to have fun. For me to have fun, you have to have fun, and it's my job for you to have fun. Having worked in the games industry for a bit I picked up a few tricks, and learned quite a bit about how people think, ways to read people to see what they like, and ways to make sure they are enjoying themselves.
