About Turtle

Greetings and Salutations, guys, gals, people and pals. My name is Turtle. I've been running and playing various tabletop Rpgs for over a decade. I have always loved anything and everything video games since I the 90s when my first game was River City Ransom for the NES. That was just the tip of the iceberg of my gaming passion. I've played every genre under the sun from action, adeventure, sports, rpg and much more. Similar to many D&D was my first foray into tabletop rpg and I was hooked ever since then. The ability to be able to tell collaborative stories with friends and strangers, who then became good friends, alike. To be able to build worlds and tell stories alongside people became a strong passion of mine. Not being limited to what was placed in front of me in video games was an eye opener. I try to expand my repertoire by studying the likes of great DMs like Matt Mercer, Brennan Lee Mulligan, Matt Corville and many more. If you enjoy table with a focus on engaging collaborative storytelling, rich and vibrant fleshed out worlds with fun and memorable NPCs, challenging combat, and deep twist and turns please feel free to contact me about joining a game. I am not limited to only D&D and am willing to run any and all rule sets. I am also open to running games for your own private games. Outside of TTRPGs, I am a father of three happily married to a Geek who also love games just as much as I do. Sign up to a game today. I’d love to see you at my table!

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be

Star Wars Edge of the Empire, Daggerheart, and Shadowrun.

My favorite shows/movies are

Star wars, Lord of the Rings, God Father and much more. I could go on rambling a list of movies. Boondock Saints, lock stock and two smoking barrels, snatch, nightmare before Christmas. The list goes on and on.

When I'm not running games I'm...

I'm playing in games weekly on Wed-Fri with some of my best friends. We love TTRPGs, all aspects of them. We have our favorite systems such as WoD, shadowrun and just recently Daggerheart. We also enjoy trying out new systems. We recently just started a mass effect system.

How Turtle runs games

I try to make my GM style work for the table. If you love pure roleplay I am your guy. If you love the tactical crunch of combat I am your guy. I am all for visual style game using roll20 maps and tokens as well as theater of the mind style gameplay.

I deal with rules issues by...

Communication. Sometimes people understand things differently but talking can get everyone on the same page. We're all here to play the same game and have fun telling stories.

I prep by

Planning an end goal and let the players fill out the rest. "No plan survives first contact with the enemy"

Rules are...

Important but not the end all be all. My number one rule is rule of cool. I try to have my players be the heroes they should be. If the players want to do something that isn't in the rulebook. well lets figure it out. Outside of that I try my best to play the rules by raw.

Turtle's ideal table

Malleable. I enjoy crunchy combat as well as a well told story. A session could be pure Rp that can make you cry or a hard fought pure combat that last hours. It all depends on the players.

I think it's a red flag when players...

Pvp just to pvp or hog the spotlight purposely. Sometimes players get into it and that's fine but if you're purposely controlling the story without letting others in the game... That's a red flag.

I think min/maxing...

Is fun. I myself as a player am a min/maxer. At the same time a unoptimized character is perfectly fine. Sometimes these character quirks can be interesting to RP and make engaging stories.
