About Shane

I have been playing Dungeons and Dragons since the 1980s when I came across it with some friends. I played until I left for work. 30 years later, I got back into D&D and started various campaigns around my town introducing new players to this wonderful world. Now, after many years, I have a solid group that have been playing for 2 years together. Looking to expand online and bring enjoyment to many others.

I became a GM because

I enjoy telling a collective story with others and giving my players an experience where they can have fun. I have taught board games to people for many years as well, and the joy on their faces watching them play gives me great satisfaction.

My favorite books are

All time favourite is the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Trilogy in six parts, lots of Stephen King books, and reading Star Wars Extended Universe novels.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Building droids and costumes for the 501st legion, 3d printing props for my in person D&D games, or writing some one-shot and even one full campaign. I also play guitar.

How Shane runs games

I am a very relaxed GM. I do love to roleplay parts as needed. I prefer having my players have to deal with interesting puzzles and work with NPCs to solve things in a campaign. I love a mixture of homebrew campaigns (which I have written a few) as well as pre-set adventures like Hoard of the Dragon Queen, Curse of Strahd, etc...

I am very comfortable with new players and helping them through the rules, giving them advice as we play to make the experience as seamless as possible. I play with the Rule of Cool usually and am not a huge rules lawyer. I will definitely enjoy playing with players that come up with unique ways of dealing with problems. I enjoy players that like to joke around a bit, but still stay focussed on the game as well. Roleplaying always makes the game go easier.
