About Malix
I am a veteran game designer who has worked with and for TSR, FASA, Mayfair, HERO, West End, White Wolf and many others as well as creating cult favorite "the Whispering Vault". These days I am a designer, consultant and professional GM working at establishing a social media presence. I can often be found running D&D, a horror game of some kind or my most recent ttrpg - NUkED. I am a regular guest at conventions such as Chupacaracon, GaryCon and PAGE. I have run games all over the world and at Sherwood Forest Faire. Taking people on adventures is a huge part of my life.

I got started GMing...
As a kid my GM was Len "Leomund" Lakofka. I started running game very young. We were involved in developing AD&D which is how Nystul became a wizard in Greyhawk. I never stopped and became a "forever GM" - it is my passion :)
People are always surprised when I tell them
I have been a fictional character in several worlds including Grayhawk. I was also adviser to Lord British in the Ultima series.
When I'm not running games I'm...
I love movies, cooking and sharing food with friends. I consult with game companies and game masters and am a game designer who goes to as many game conventions I can manage.
How Malix runs games
I believe that the gamemaster's role is to present a consistent and intriguing world. I do my best to share an understanding with the groups that play with me about what will happen so everyone knows what to expect. I try to be entertaining and engaging but my emphasis is on providing a player focused adventuring experience. It is their story after all. I am just involved to facilitate the stories they share. I am a Rules as Intended (rather than a Rules as Written) guy. I will bend but seldom break the rules - we are playing a game after all. I want the players to feel they have earned anything they achieve rather than having been handed their victories. That places me somewhere midway between Narrativist and Simulationist. Mostly I run games to tell stories with other people and have fun doing it. We are playing a game together but the smiles, laughter and inside jokes are often half the fun.

My games focus on...
The Player Characters. The game is a story and it is about the PCs.
When it comes to voices
I am an actor and improviser who has experience with character voices and uses them to spice things up BUT players are never expected to do likewise. If you want to do a character voice go right ahead - I won't judge whatever you choose to do - or not do :)

I am for a vibe that's...
Chill, upbeat and eager to play. My table is always open to all and I do my best to make it a safe, welcoming place to have some fun rolling dice and telling stories.
I think min/maxing...
You do you. No one true path. It isn't for me though. There is a kind of a game within a game involving getting the most out of the options available to you and I get that but I play loosely enough that creating a perfectly engineered "build" may be a waste of effort.
