About Ash

Hey! I'm Ash. I've been GMing since 2003. At this point I've lost count of how many games I've been behind the screen for. I'm easygoing and flexible. I'm happy to admit when I'm wrong and adapt on the fly. I love saying yes. My rule #1 for playing at my table: Do what's fun. Play funly.

I became a GM because

it looked like the funnest part of the game! I was right.

My favorite system of all Time is

D&D 3.5E

When I'm not running games I'm...

being a mom and business owner. Singing in choirs. Hanging out with friends. Reading. Prepping for games. :D

How Ash runs games

My table is player-centered, collaborative, and fun-first. I say yes whenever possible and focus on making sure every player feels involved, important, and heard. Your character's story matters, your ideas shape the world, and your comfort level dictates how we play. I'm great at reading the room and adapting to whatever tone the group wants, whether that's epic heroism, dark intrigue, goofy chaos, or anything in between. I play off what you give me, react to your choices, and build the story around what excites YOU. New players are always welcome! I'm patient, clear with rules explanations, and focused on helping you learn by playing, not by memorizing rulebooks. Veterans will find I can either be flexible with rules interpretations and open to creative solutions, or I can play strictly by the book. What we go with depends on the players at the table. Most importantly, you can be yourself at my table. No pressure to roleplay in ways that feel uncomfortable, no forcing you into a playstyle that isn't yours. We're here to have a good time together, and that means everyone gets to play in the way that works for them.

I prep by

modified Lazy DM method. First I look at what encounters are likely to happen. Then I look at the PCs and think about how I can make everyone feel involved. And then I put down some secrets & clues I can give out during the session that would be interesting. Simple & easy.

Rules are...

there to give us a framework. I tend to stick pretty close to the rules, but I don't let them keep us from having fun. I'll smoosh them around a little in favor of a good time when it feels right.

When it comes to voices

I don't do 'em! Not my strength. You can if you want! You do you, booboo.

Ash's ideal table

My table is easygoing and inclusive. My number one rule is that this is supposed to be FUN, not stressful. We're here to tell great stories together and have a good time. No pressure to perform or to show up any specific way. Mistakes happen, rules get fuzzy sometimes, and that's totally fine - we figure it out together and keep the game moving. I love players who are communicative, flexible, and here to have fun. You don't need to know every rule or be a master tactician, you just need to be willing to engage with the world and play off what others bring to the table. I appreciate players who support each other's moments to shine and who aren't afraid to take creative risks. I encourage player agency and love when your choices shape the world in unexpected ways. Most of all - DO WHAT'S FUN!

I am for a vibe that's...

comfortable and easygoing. Games are supposed to be fun!

I love it when a player

gets invested in their character and engages with the world around them.

I think metagaming...

depends on the group. Some are for it, some are against it. Whatever the group decides is fine with me. The game is supposed to be FUN. Play however you want to (as a group).
