I got started GMing...
My first GM experience was at a before-and-after school program with 30 kids in grades 3–6. As they ate snacks, I stood up front with a deck of cards and said, “You’re all witches and wizards at Hogwarts.” I set the scene, then asked, “What do you want to do about that?”
How Luke (LittleBoyBlue) runs games
I believe in adapting to my players. While I always have a plan, I’m ready to adjust based on my players choices, keeping the game fun, immersive, and engaging. I encourage creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork, and I use natural consequences within the game world. Furthermore: I have fun doing voices to make the NPCs come alive. I use a combination of maps I have created and theater of the mind.
Luke (LittleBoyBlue)'s ideal table
My table is fun and light-hearted most of the time, with moments of intense challenge and adventure woven in. I create stories where players face tricky obstacles—but I’m never against my players. In fact, I’m always cheering them on, excited to see how they overcome the trials I set before them. Players who enjoy working together, both as a party and in collaboration with me as the GM, will feel right at home. I’m flexible with the rules if it means improving the flow or fun for the group, and I love trying out new ideas—always discussing them with the table before we implement anything. I enjoy all aspects of roleplay, whether we’re deep in a dungeon filled with traps and monsters or running a city pet store and roleplaying every moment. For me, this game is about using our imaginations together to have fun, connect, and maybe even learn a bit about ourselves and each other. My table is welcoming and accepting to all, regardless of beliefs or backgrounds.
