About Benjamin
I've been playing ttrpg's since I was in middle school and have loved them even before that. I've wanted to host games to spread my passion for this hobby and give others a chance to participate. All are welcome at my table for fun, dramatic, and perhaps thought-provoking storytelling which allows the plays agency and freedom of choice.

When I'm not running games I'm...
...writing in my own original fantasy world that I have been developing for years. This is the same world I run D&D games in to make it feel more lived in and immersive. Oh, also weightlifting because you know I got to get those gains.
How Benjamin runs games
I run games that are a good mix of combat at role play. I like to know the player's characters so I can incorporate them into the story and make it feel like the game is really about them. The rules are not of supreme important at a table I am DMing, fun is. If the player wants to do something cool or dramatic, especially during a role play segment it is likely that we can ignore or change the rules to let that happen.

I deal with rules issues by...
...group consensus. Rules are important in criminal law, but when we're playing a fun fantasy game, I don't want a rules argument to bring the game to a halt or ruin someone's fun. If we run into something unclear, we'll make a ruling, keep playing, and talk it over as a group if we need to.
Benjamin's ideal table
My table is pretty laid-back. We’re here to have fun, tell a good story, and hopefully laugh a lot along the way. I like players who are invested in the game but don’t take it so seriously that we can’t make a joke, reference a movie, or stop for an out-of-character question every now and then. Everyone gets to speak and participate. You don’t have to be the loudest person at the table, but I do want everyone to feel like they have room to talk, contribute, and have their moment.

I love it when a player
...brings a character backstory that ties them into the world. I love having characters, conflicts, story arcs, and personal ambitions to work with when prepping a game so that I can really make the players feel like they are the center of the story.
I think metagaming...
...is inevitable. Any party that has a player who has read the monster manual will be metagaming a little bit and I understand. It's tedious and sometimes not fun to pretend like you don't know a demon is resistant to fire damage.
I think min/maxing...
...is completely fine. As an engineering-minded person, I am always trying to create the most optimal characters. However, it's just important that all players get to have fun at the table. Some players have fun creating powerful builds. We just have to be mindful of other players at the table.
