About Asher

I've been running games since winter of 2019, Starfinder(with Pathfinder 1e and D&D 3.5 conversion allowed), Cyberpunk Red, Vampire the Requiem 2e, and the Mothership. As a host I and my colleagues run a discord server to host various game information from scheduling updates, to character death recaps in hall of the dead, use soundboards for joke or even just keeping up with the various groups and their happenings. I've had a lot of experience running ttrpgs from a virtual play space. Within the server resides a small artist collective that from time to time will take the time to draw your characters and impromptu games. I'm homerule/homebrew friendly. I like to get to know my players and their characters, and help foster a healthy communication environment on or off the table. Be it an 18+ only environ or a PG13 table. I operate within EST, I'm a freelancer with a lot of time on my hands. So much so in the past 5 years my communities had an ongoing Starfinder game with characters up to level 15 at the point I'm writing this that has closed. In my cyberpunk red campaign my hall of the dead has multiple characters with anywhere from 3000-6000IP.

I became a GM because

I spend a lot of time in text based/thread based/forum based roleplaying communities in my youth and found the lack of structure frustrating, as it induced many unnecessary conflicts.

My favorite books are

The Way of Kings & Words of Radiance by Brandon Sanderson Dogs of War by Adrian Tchaikovsky

How Asher runs games

Homebrew friendly, I can do character voices but save it for special occasions, I like taking time aside from sessions to consider what makes your characters tick, I will scrape modules of various games for inspiration. Tactical combat in games is pretty brutal, the mooks don't wanna die too, and they'll use every advantage they have to avoid flatlining from targeting your apparently most feeble allies, to forcing you to waste turn economy to simply get in their range. Preparation is rewarded, and I'm not going to hold your hand beyond mechanics and the do's/don'ts of the established social contract at the table. I use a color coded card system for safe wording on the event that one of the more grim dark campaigns begin to bother you or become overwhelming. Green- Keep going, Yellow-Slow down, Red-Stop. Dynamic lighting is often implemented throughout the tactical battlemaps and exploration is often rewarded. Presently I operate with Roll20 Premium. Frequent breaks are encouraged at the digital tables between scenes and at the start of combats.

Asher's ideal table

I enjoy players who can roll with the punches. I'm not here to bully you. Your characters? I'm an unbiased arbiter of consequences and reward. You like building up your characters legacy? Open freedom to explore the world at your leisure. Dope. Ignore the main quest. The problem will get worse. I am your PCs biggest fan, and as a fan I enjoy seeing my favored heroes struggle. Starvation, social blackballing, hostile environments, financial scarcity, and more I enjoy players who are willing approach PvP from a mature and character/narrative focused environment. Agency is king at my table, but not at the expense of the players themselves. Where are my tacticians at?
