About AmaanHK

Hi! I'm Amaan. I'm a CRiT winning podcast host and CRiT nominated Horror Game Master (Chaosium), Actual Play producer, podcaster, and content creator, and winner of various webfest awards for my Actual Play GODKILLER: Qismat. I've been running games for the past 2.5 years, ranging from D&D, OSR/OSE, Call of Cthulhu, Candela Obscura, Blades in the Dark, Pathfinder, Kids on Bikes/Brooms, Godkiller, and others! My focus is more on horror narrative with fantastical elements rather than mechanics focused number crunching gameplay. If you're into that, we're gonna have a swell time! I've also created a Carved from Brindlewood game called MOSNTERS ATE MY HOMEWORK which is now available to buy. I can run that for you here if requested. :) I'm here to be able to fund my further education.

Featured Prompts

I started running games because...

I love building worlds for people who love to explore new worlds. I wish to be able to do this as a full time gig one day.

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

active, passionate, and whimsical

When I'm not running games I'm...

reading novels! Learning recipes to cook at home for my partner! Singing to music while I'm cleaning the house! Drawing maps on my notepad! Watching anime and animated movies! Watching tons of videos of stuff I have NO knowledge of!

How AmaanHK runs games

I love incorporating character backstory into the session or the campaign. I'm all for rules light co-building of the story and the world by working WITH the players. I'm not out of the world with voices though I do try. The horror genre is one of my favourites while running any system. My combat is fast and functional rather than long and tactical (except Pf2e).

Featured Prompts

I deal with rules issues by...

focusing on what players what; what will be the coolest possible moment (doesn't mean the best outcome); considering a compromise or a different perspective to what can happen.

My games focus on...

aspects of the setting and the environment which can evoke the most feeling - whether it is of dread, horror, happiness, anxiety, or sadness. This is done of course with consideration of what players want.

AmaanHK's ideal table

Not a completely unhinged vibe is expected or preferred from my table unless we're doing THAT sort of the game. Buying in to the fiction of the story and the scenarios is preferred!

Featured Prompts

I love it when a player

encourages Roleplaying and doing scenes withother players without the GM having to jump in and facilitate scenes and emotions.

I think metagaming...

is fine as long as it's not to break the game in an 'us vs. them/GM' situation. My games are for fun, connection, feeling a bit of horror, and have an overall good time.

My table is not the place for...

bigotry.
