About me

Hello, my name is Aaron and I've been playing tabletop RPGs for over a decade now, and DMing for half as long. In that time, I've had the pleasure of running many games. Several one-shots and short form adventures, but I've also had the absolute joy of bringing a homebrew campaign to completion over the course of two and half years. These days, my core group consists of a group of DMs who take turns running campaigns. I started my Tabletop career in Pathfinder 1e, which also happens to be the system I ran my first games and campaigns in. These days, I primarily play D&D 2024 (I like to call it D&D 5.5) and Pathfinder 2e, though I am also currently in a Dead Suns Campaign adapted to Starfinder 2E. But my experience doesn't end there! I've had the pleasure of playing through a campaign set in the Chronicles of Darkness world, fighting for my life in Mörk Borg, exploring the Galaxy in Star Wars RPG, and have had adventures in The One Ring RPG, amongst many other stories.

GM Style

I have a deep love of story telling and worldbuilding, and I do my best to bring that to the table when I DM. For me this means taking the time to create a sense of atmosphere and immersion. Whether that means maps and sound effects, or funny voices and dramatic npcs, I bring all of myself to the table. To that end, I like to emphasize player creativity and choice. When running my own worlds, I try to run more "sandbox" style games that encourage players to explore both their world, and the bounds of their character. Ultimately though, I aim to create a table that facilitates characters and experiences that everyone can enjoy. When it comes to combat, I have a few different styles that I like to pull from, and ultimately they are meant to fit the story that we are telling. But, in general, I like to play my encounters with strategy. I want my players to feel like their opponents are alive and thinking in their own right. Predators will be fearsome and aggressive, but may attempt to flee once they take a few good hits. Kobolds may run and flee as you chase them, only to turn as you realize they've lured you into a trap. Soldiers may fight to the last man, and a group of bandits may be able to be bribed. The point is, combat is just as much of an opportunity for story telling as roleplay is. In fact, I have found that some of the richest stories I have had the pleasure of sharing in have come from the emergent gameplay that is combat. Overall, my style of DMing can vary from game to game and system to system but, in general, I focus on an immersive experience with a focus on story. Generally, I use RAW (rules as written), but I'm more than happy to bend them when I don't think they're fair to a situation or when homebrew accomplishes something better. Rule of cool is great, but I think that an emphasis on player's actions and their consequences (both for good or ill) make for a better story. I do my best to run a table that is LGBTQ+ and neurodiverse friendly. To that end, I will run a mandatory session 0 for new players where we can talk about table rules, what type of game we want to have and the story we want to tell together. The key to a great table is good communication, and that starts by making sure everyone is starting on the same page. ------ I am currently available Monday - Friday, 6pm - 10pm EST. I have several adventure modules to choose from, including: Curse of Strahd, Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, Waterdeep: Dungeon of the Mad Mage, Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frost Maiden, Tomb of Annihilation, and Tyranny of Dragons! If there is a different adventure you would like me to run, please ask, and I will at least look into it!

I've played DnD with Aaron for several years. He has always put as much thought into his world building, and sessions, as he does making sure every player feels included. He finds interesting ways to challenge players without it ever feeling unfair, matching players experience and power levels. Creative roleplay, and backstories are always rewarded, but not always the way you may anticipate. His genuine love for the game shines in his thoughtful stories and willingness to run with players on their ideas, where ever they may lead.

Very beginner friendly to new players to the tabletop genre. The stories and characters are entertaining and dynamic to the point of interacting with the world is always interesting. Does a great job keeping track of many chaotic events happening at once and all the minor details.

Aaron has DMed for me for years and never fails to impress with his level of world building, session prep, and attention to the interests and focuses of the players.

Playing in a campaign with Aaron at the lead has been a wonderful experience. He has managed to weave player backgrounds into the main storyline seamlessly and to great effect, giving all players their moment in the spotlight. Then there is the main storyline itself. Wonderfully epic. Still not sure we will live through it, but it is definitely a ride to remember.
