About Christopher
I’ve been playing tabletop RPGs for decades, starting with AD&D 2e and the original Planescape boxed sets, and returning full-time in 2015 during the early days of D&D 5e. Since then I’ve been consistently GMing and playing across D&D 5e, DCC, and to a lesser extent Pathfinder 1e, with RP-heavy games that prioritize rich settings, offbeat adventurers, and character-driven stories.

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be
Assuming I have people to play with, and since I know 5e without the books, it'd be Dungeon Crawl Classics, Pathfinder 2e to finally learn it, and... maybe Pendragon?
My favorite books are
Book of the Long Sun, Gene Wolfe The Sea The Sea, Iris Murdoch The Magus, John Fowles
When I'm not running games I'm...
Hanging out with dogs, making theatre, traveling, writing fantasy stuff, voice acting, going to museums, cooking, swimming, escape rooms, puzzles.
How Christopher runs games
I like running games where the world feels solid and your choices matter. I put a lot of thought into the setting, the people in it, and what they want, and I enjoy throwing players into situations where there isn’t an easy or obviously “correct” answer. If you like roleplay that has consequences that carry forward and NPCs who react like real people, that’s very much my lane. I take the rules seriously (and love to have players who know them better than I), but it’s quite important to me to run games for beginners as well as grognards where it’s okay for everyone -myself included- to make mistakes, have a laugh, learn, and move on. Combat can be thrilling, but it’s part of the story rather than the whole point: I promise to find ways for the PC you built to shine. I try to keep sessions moving, stay engaged with what the players care about, and make sure everyone leaves the table feeling like something happened. (TL;DR: 60/30/10 Roleplay/Exploration/Combat)

I deal with rules issues by...
To be frank, rules are the least interesting part of the enterprise for me, so I'll generally defer to the most rules-savvy player when a ruling is challenged. But I'm also totally fine taking a brief pause from the reality of the game to look things up. We none of us are perfect. It's ok.
My favorite trope is...
I don't know about FAVORITE, but I'm a HUGE fan of "gathering the gang" sequences in which we meet the various specialists for the Big Score doing their own thing and then being recruited. The Three Musketeers is an example; Seven Samurai; or the heist trilogy at the end of Farscape Season 2.
When it comes to voices
I try not to be zany for the sake of being zany, but rather find a voice for each character that makes sense in the context of both the region of the fantasy world and the given character's experiences thus far. I will play with some recognizable Earth dialects, but your comfort level comes first.
Christopher's ideal table
In a perfect world, my table would be filled with folks who like jumping in with both feet in terms of making strong choices, but are sensitive enough to create characters with nuance and vulnerability. Players that prioritize storytelling over tactics and build. Silly enough to enjoy an encounter with farting flumphs, but serious enough to look up the name of their summoner between sessions. Passionate about Story with a capital S, and telling an interesting one together no matter how the dice may fall. Interested in lore. And most importantly, people who want to lift up their fellow players, celebrate their successes, and support them in getting what they need out of the game.

I love it when a player
plays up a weakness in their character, particularly if it's one I haven't thought of. Say I throw out some boxed text, there's a cat skeleton, and then one of you who has to roll says "I think Gomer the Gregarious might roll with Disadvantage, cuz that skeleton reminds him of weakness X" Inspired.
I think metagaming...
is both inevitable and The Enemy. It's the reality of our circumstances. We're playing a game. But we're also actors (the 'RP' in 'RPG'), so we play a little game of self-deception, continually grounding ourselves in the given circumstances of our characters so that we can suspend our disbelief.
My perfect party mix is
My favorite tables are diverse. Not for a socio-political reason; I just am touched when storytelling brings disparate folks together. But my second favorite types of tables are groups of friends (sadly, sometimes homogenous) if only because pre-existing bonds of duty make for a more reliable game.
