About RexZor

Hello my name is RexZor, but you can just call me Rex. I realized that the only way to play DnD consistently would be to be the DM. As a DM I believe there is always something for me to learn and improve on. I love watching other DM's play and listen to their stories. They constantly give me ideas and ways to give my players new experiences. I have never run a module I create all my worlds homebrew because that is super cool to me. The thing that brings me the most joy as a DM is seeing my players smile. That's why I DM because I love people's genuine reactions to things I create and seeing them enjoy it.

How RexZor runs games

I am a player/character driven DM. My style is giving players the freedom to make unique choices and mechanical decisions they would not have made at any other table. Narratively that means helping players craft a character the feels like they are living and breathing in the world. Then when they are in that world give them options that emboldens them to make choices and decisions that push their character arc forward in both positive in negative directions for their character. Narratively what this means is sometimes giving them decisions that may alter how their character is played. In combat maybe instead of just hitting the bad guys until they are dead, I put a bunch of civilians that need to be saved on a time limit. This way you are using abilities and features that you normally wouldn't so you aren't always thinking of the most "optimal" way to deal damage.

I once ran a session...

That was a mystery thriller that saw my players on a college campus trying to figure out what happened to their friend that disappeared. There were a lot of twists and turns that lead them to discovered on of the other players was behind their friend disappearing.

Rules are...

A great foundation to running the game you want to play. The great thing about creative things like DnD the rules are a guide not an absolute so you can bend and break as you wish as long as everyone is having fun.

RexZor's ideal table

My ideal table is a group of 3-4 players that know the rules, are into heavy RP while also enjoying combat when it comes. I like when everyone gets into RP but also realize that this is a game and can have a fun time. I love to laugh so I want to see laughs at the table. My ideal table consists of players that will take big swings with the tools I give them and surprise me with decisions I never thought of. TTRPGs is a collaborative story telling game and my players are builders in my world just as much as me.

I think min/maxing...

Is fine and what I encourage. To min/maxing is not finding the most optimal way damage dealing build. Min/maxing is finding the most optimal way to build and play your character idea. Min/maxing is not the same as a breaking the game.

My table is not the place for...

Any type of harassment. I have a 0 tolerance policy and the first instance of it you are gone. I lay down the ground rules before ever getting into a session. If it happens after I explain the rules you are gone no discussions.
