About the adventure

"Laughter fills the woods as a group of teenagers hike under the bright moon. Leaves crunch under their feet. Their breath fogs in the cold. Around a campfire, they share smokes, drinks, and some local gossip. Music plays softly on the radio, but as the evening moves on it grows colder. The friends walk back home through the dark woods, laughing and chatting. Suddenly, the ground begins to move. Twisting and turning under their feet. Wrapping itself around their ankles, ensnaring them. Vines snap up around the trees attempting to trap them! Swiftly they run. They run without looking back. Hoping to escape. Finally breaking free of the woods, the friends struggle to catch their breath. Panting and glancing around at each other in confusion over what happened. But slowly...the reality sets in. They came out of the woods one friend short. The group looks back at the black woods, none with the courage to return." When the Agency of Unexplained Happenings receives word that a teenager has disappeared after a group of friends were attacked by strange "moss" in the woods they have no choice but to investigate. Can The Agency stop the spread? This mystery takes place in the 1970's and exudes a Twin Peaks x Supernatural vibe. Adventure is from Monster of the Week's Tome of Mysteries.

Players should have a mic, but webcams are not required. Players can roll digital or physical dice during the session as there are limited dice rolls throughout the game. Reading the rules before hand is not necessary but I will link to a free PDF of the rules for those interested below. What I provide

I will bring the story, player handouts, player character sheets, and (of course) the monsters.

Gameplay details

"Most people don't believe in monsters, but you know the truth. They're real, and it's your task to bring them down." Monster of the Week (MoTW) is a D6 based TTRPG inspired by urban fantasy, monster centered TV. Think Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Supernatural, or X-Files. Each player creates a character or "Hunter" who has chosen to devote their life to killing monsters. The Hunters will work together to investigate weird situation, handle monsters who cause trouble (either slaying or "managing" them), and saving people who are in danger. Monster of the Week is high role-play game centered around investigating weird mysteries and slaying monsters. For players there will not be a lot of planning and character creation only takes a few moments. From a GM perspective there is a bit more planning than other TTRPG's as Monster of the Week can have a very involved world lore and rely a lot on GM imagination and planning to run smoothly - as literally almost anything is a possibility.
