About the adventure

This is a beginner-friendly game designed to introduce players to Pirate Borg. Set during the Golden Age of Piracy in the Dark Caribbean, Pirate Borg is an alternate history, dark fantasy, horror game of grog-swilling pirates, undead galleons, arcane treasure, ancient ruins, and high sea adventure .It is a rules-light game based on the MÖRK BORG ruleset. 🏴‍☠️We'll be using the "The Battle of Deadman's Cove," which is designed to introduce players to the key concepts of the game. No experience with Pirate Borg is expected. 🏴‍☠️This scenario can be played in under 3 hours. I've scheduled up to 4 hours to allow us to engage in some preliminaries, to discuss how the scenario went, and to talk about Pirate Borg as players wish. 🏴‍☠️Safety/table tools include an RPG consent checklist, X-Card, Lines and Veils, the Rewind and Pause script changes, and an Open door policy. 🏴‍☠️This is a welcoming, open table and there is no space for racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, or transphobia.

What I provide

I bring my 25-years experience as a GM, my infectious enthusiasm for the game and roleplaying games in general, and my experience and passion for introducing players to new games and to role-playing games. I will provide for us a private Discord server for voice and text chat to be used before, during, and after the game. Likewise, I will also provide a Foundry VTT game server with 24/7 access to use for character sheets, maps, dice rolling, and combat. I will also provide the Pirate Borg Player's Guide and Rules Reference for you to refer to as needed, and introduce you to additional Pirate Borg resources.

Gameplay details

3+ players needed to start. Prior to our session, I ask that everyone fill out and submit the Monte Cook RPG Consent Checklist. We will then discuss our safety tools, including lines and veils and the open door policy, and I'll introduce introduce players to the Foundry interface, including a walkthrough of the character sheet. Gameplay will involve a mixture of theater of the mind, maps and images for reference, and battle maps for tactical naval combat. This is a welcoming, open table and there is no space for racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, or transphobia.
