Domains of Dread | LGBTQIA+, RP Heavy, D&D 5e Horror and Suspense Campaign

About the adventure

The Domains of Dread campaign takes place in the Shadowfell, a plane of darkness, shadow, secrets, and all manners of horror. There are many domains among the Mists, each separated by that mysterious and dangerous fog, each with its own Darklord and hidden lore; some of these domains include: Barovia, Darkon, Borca, and many more. Traverse the everchanging Mists into the unknown to figure out how to finally escape this nightmare or climb the top to gain control over your situation. This campaign will be about 70/30 RP to Combat designed for 5 players. It will heavily involve NPCs from each realm to create an intriguing story as well as backstory integration into the overarching plot. Players will be asked to create characters from one of the Domains of Dread or someone who was lured and trapped inside one. We will be creating this horror story together!

Additional Details

How to prepare

You will need access to Discord, Roll20, a microphone, a webcam, and have a basic understanding of both how to play and how to read your character sheet (but I am always okay with going over this with any new players before our first campaign session and teaching the nuances as we go). You may use digital or physical dice.

What I provide

I will bring the Discord and Roll20 links as well as access to any content on D&D Beyond to help build your characters. I will be making digital maps for use in Roll20 to better visualize combats and certain scenes as needed.

Gameplay details

Players can expect heavy RP and light rules play. I do prefer to use cameras when playing as it helps me read the table and provide the best campaign experience I can. A link to the Monte Cook RPG consent list will be provided prior to our Session 0. Our Session 0 will go over the setting of the campaign in more detail, a discussion of any triggering topics that may occur in a horror campaign, what the Players would like to achieve/see in the campaign, and any other expectations going into this. I provide my aftercare in that I am always available and ready to listen to anything my players need to talk about; I will always adjust accordingly to meet my players' needs. My DMs are always open and I will respond asap and we can always schedule a call if that's more comfortable as well. X, N, and O's are generally messaged to me or used on Roll20, whichever makes the player more comfortable.

How will character creation work

Characters will start at level five and will use Standard Array for ability scores. Due to the in depth world building of the Domains of Dread, I will set up meetings with each player to discuss backstories, which npcs the character would already know, and what knowledge of the setting the character would possess

Players can expect

• Find a game to join solo or search for a professional game master for you and your friends/coworkers/family.
• Book your session and wait for the Game Master to approve you.
• If you don't have a blast with your first game, your next game is on us.
