About Sam
Hey there, just your average ttrpg obsessed geek. I've been gming for coming up to 9 years for multiple groups. I love fantasy, it's my jam, getting immersed in the fantastical worlds, seeing PCs interact and and shape the world over the adventure, it's just great. I have played with players of varying levels of experience, including introducing a number of people to the hobby and I love talking with people who are passionate about it. I've played a number of systems as a player, my experience as a gm are with D&D 5e, PF2e, Legend In the Mist, Shadowdark, and Tales of the Valiant. A few systems I'm very excited to try out soon Dragonbane, The One Ring 2e, Draw Steel!, and DC20. I'm always up for learning new and interesting systems. See you next game.

I got started GMing...
because I loved storytelling. I started playing in a couple of groups and almost immediately started GMing, getting a group of friends together and running my first 5e campaign.
My favorite books are
Manga, but what kind, that's a toughie. I love most things that aren't scifi. Give me a good slice of life or sports manga like Eyeshield 21 and I'm really happy. A good shonen fantasy, same thing. I will cry at sappy moments in a romance manga. I just really love manga.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Wait there's a time I'm not running games? Oh right that's when I'm prepping or playing. Nah, in all seriousness while I do run and play a lot, I also love anime, video games, amusement parks, and laser tag. I'm also a Christian and love learning more about the bible.
How Sam runs games
I love roleplay, especially roleplay with purpose. There's nothing better than roleplay that advances the plot, whether it be the players trying to get some hidden information, convince a captain of the guard that they are the right group for the job, or trying to deceive the enemy. It's also important for players to be given time to roleplay amongst themselves, especially after a stressful situation. I enjoy challenging my players, whether it be through combat, puzzles, or the aforementioned roleplay. My goal is never to kill the players, however that is the monsters goals, and the dice sometimes rule in their favor. I am fairly strict with my rulings though. I mostly follow the rules by the book, I make any homebrew rules known ahead of time, and if anything is unclear during a session I tend to rule in favor of the players and look it up for future sessions. I feel it helps everyone know what to expect. I'm happy to discuss things after a session as well.

Rules are...
a way for people to know what to expect. I really enjoy rules because they set a base let and let everyone know things are fair. Sometimes I will allow things because it makes sense and is cool, but overall rules ensure fair treatment of all.
Sam's ideal table
I'm a big fan of both combat and social interactions between players and NPCs. I like goofy and chaotic campaigns that will also have their serious moments. Although not intentional...many of my groups tend to convince a poor weak NPC enemy at some point to join them and help them. Players should often work together towards the same goal, but conflict between characters can be a lot of fun :)
