About the adventure

Once thriving frontier world was mysteriously infected by a bio weapon. Many corporations are suspected but none have been confirmed. Somebody or something seems to be controlling the Hordes, so it's been engineered as a type of control weapon. Someone or something wants to expand off the world. Infected pilots, mech-sized creatures, and semi-organic infected mechs. We have it all plus more! You are part of an experimental squad of psionic mech pilots. Use a combination of careful choices of mech and pilot battles to find the source and save the survivors. Note: Some of the mech pilot scenes use an homebrew expanded version of the base out of mech tactical system because some of the scenes, with exploring areas that mechs can't get to, need to be more structured than the existing storyline system and more tactical than the existing pilot tactical systems, although for just run-of-the-mill encounters, the standard storyline style rolling is used.

About me

I like to run player-driven RPGs where your character, backstory, and decisions actually change the world around you. My tables range from published adventures to deeply customized living-world campaigns, with an emphasis on player agency, memorable NPCs, exploration, mysteries, and meaningful consequences. I do also run linear modules for story driven campaigns, but don't prefer them as much. I try to sandbox those as much as the story and module allows. I also build highly customized virtual tables with tactical maps, handouts, character art, atmospheric audio, and interactive Foundry scenes when the game benefits from them. New players are welcome—I enjoy teaching systems, provide pregenerated characters when useful, and adjust the balance of roleplay, exploration, puzzles, and tactical play to fit the group. I like to learn new RPGs and systems so picking up a new game type is easy and enjoyable. As said, I prefer open world type DMing based on the players backstories and play preferences. I never liked railroaded scenarios or DMs that ignored the actual players. That is why I got into DMing. I like to create open worlds when I can and do use or start from premade scenerios sometimes but like to create the world.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will use COMP/CON (the free Lancer app) for character building. You will start at License Level 0 (LL0). I have pregens as well.

What Tyler Branch brings to the table

provide pregens and COMP/CON help, tactical mech battles, structured missions outside the cockpit, custom psionic mechanics, campaign-specific maps and visual material, and rules teaching as it comes up

Homebrew rules

Some of the mech pilot scenes use an homebrew expanded version of the base out of mech tactical system because some of the scenes, with exploring areas that mechs can't get to, need to be more structured than the existing storyline system and more tactical than the existing pilot tactical systems, although for just run-of-the-mill encounters, the standard storyline style rolling is used. The psionics and how they work is part of this.
