About the adventure

Heroes of the Borderlands is an introductory DnD adventure based on the Keep on the Borderlands by Gary Gygax. Your heroes will traverse the Keep, the Wilderness, and the Caves of Chaos as they grow from Level 1 to Level 3. The tone is a light-hearted dungeon adventure. New players are welcome. This will all be an asynchronous pbp, or play-by-post game, which means you play by sending messages through Discord whenever you are free. No scheduling, no problem. Hope to see you there!

About me

I am a game master who has been running Dungeons and Dragons games in person for about two years. Recently, I began running online play-by-post games and love giving players the opportunity to play asynchronously without scheduling conflicts. I am well-versed in Discord, Avrae, and Tupperbox. My favorite type of game is taking old-school or old-school renaissance (OSR) dungeons, one-shots, and one-page dungeons and adapting them to DnD to ease players into a different experience outside of the DnD realm. Favorite creators include Questing Beast, Trilemma Adventures, Mork Borg, BeholderPie, and Dyson Logos.

Character creation

Creating your character

During Session 0, players will discuss their ideas and create characters. Players will use DnDBeyond and import the characters into Discord using Avrae (this will all be explained for any newbies). Characters start at Level 1 and can use any books available to the GM. The DnD's 2024 Player's Handbook will be the foundational text, but legacy, third-party, and homebrew content is welcome.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Players will need an account for Discord and Owlbear Rodeo. Send a friend request to @danzferdinand. Then, join the Discord server and use Avrae and Tupperbox for rolls, combat, and roleplay. During combat and exploration, players will be invited to D&D Beyond or Owlbear Rodeo to access maps.

What Lognar the Librarian brings to the table

As a play-by-post game, the game will focus on written text but will also include art from the adventures, maps, and, from time to time, memes. We will embrace the Rule of Cool and the idea of rulings over rules. Players are encouraged to be welcoming, light-hearted, and comedic.

Homebrew rules

Homebrew rules will be voted on in Session 0, but may include: -Bonus Action Potions -Max Critical Hits -Morale Checks -And many, many random tables

Safety

How Lognar the Librarian creates a safe table

Players will be in a safe space. We will have Lines and Veils to detail any content that cannot be explored as well as Stars and Wishes to adjust expectations as we go along. X, N, & O's can also be messaged to the GM at any time to circumvent any discomfort. We will not tolerate players who break these rules; they will be booted from the server.
