About the adventure

Inspirations: Dungeon Meshi, Made in Abyss, Pokemon the Movie 3, and many, many others. Once there was a queen who wandered along the arc of a falling star and discovered a well that granted wishes. She poured her dreams into it, and in return was granted wonderous, beautiful things for herself and her kingdom. For each wish granted, the Well asked only to grow closer, pulling her and the kingdom she loved deeper into the earths embrace. The more she wished, the deeper they sank, and the more her kingdom glimmered with wonders. Of course, this drew the covetous eye of neighboring nations who wished to claim that power for themselves. Soon war was waged on the land of wishes. The Well, touched by the horrors of war soon found that the nature of the queens wishes went from dreamlike to that of nightmares, and that no matter how many times she wished them away, her enemies envy only grew. Wish upon wish compounded, conflicted, and contradicted until the queens domain in the earth could hardly be considered a kingdom any longer. Slowly the laws of nature lost their sway, up was down, right became left, and what once was a straight and narrow path sprawled into a labyrinth. The citizens who used to call her kingdom home were not spared either, the wishes changing them one by one into weapons, tools, or mementos of the ancient past. With time, even the Queen in the Wells name was lost to history, but the quest of those who covet their dreams coming true has never ceased. Today adventurers gather at the edge of the sprawling pit that was once her kingdom, a massive city built along the ring known as The Precipice. Governments, private companies, and starry eyed dreamers all work together and against one another to dive into the ruins of Erstwhile. Staking their life and limb for a chance at making their wishes come true. Do you have what it takes to meet the Queen in the Well? What will you wish for if you find her? Lets build a world and map out the dungeon together, I can't wait to see the stories we will tell!

About me

I've been in love with TTRPG's since the first time I sat down to play with friends after school 20 years ago! That initial sense of freedom and wonder at being able to craft exciting stories and go on adventures with those I share the table with has never left my mind. It’s become something I’ve wanted to share with anybody I get the chance to, pushing me to become a game master so I could make the perfect space for all the friends I make to get to have the same kind of one of a kind experience I did when I first started playing tabletop games! After a decade+ of long spanning campaigns, and making new friends along the way I realized I’m never having more fun than when I see giddy smiles on my players' faces, hearing them talk excitedly after a game about all the hijinks they got up to. I realized it’s become more than just a hobby for me, it’s what I want to do to make a difference in the world. I want to meet new people, make new friends, and give them a safe space where they can tell the stories they want to tell together, and that’s what brought me here! So come on in and take a seat! Get friendly and tell me about the characters you've been cooking up so we can see what sort of adventures we can go on, i'm looking forward to meeting you!

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will happen via FoundryVTT, and i'm more than happy to get together with you either via text or voice to work on a character together. I allow anything from the official Fabula Ultima books, and will be using Quirks in this campaign. We'll be doing worldbuilding together on the first session, so feel free to start whipping up some ideas for the dungeon! Feel free to reach out if you need some help brainstorming ideas too. In order to play in the first session, i'll need to get together with you at least 24 hours before our first session to make sure you mesh with what we are looking for.

The current party

We have 4 party members currently An Invoker, Sharpshooter, Dancer with the Fettered Heart Quirk A Darkblade, Mutant, Weaponmaster with the Enigmatic Relic Quirk A Spiritist, Symbolist, Orator with the Big Bro Quirk And an Elementalist, Entropist, and Loremaster with the Ruinbringer Quirk

What to expect

Preparing for the session

I ask that my players all have a working microphone, forgeVTT and discord account set up, as well as a stable internet connection for smoothness of play. I also ask that my players consider taking notes while the game is ongoing because I offer a fabula point for those who would volunteer to do a recap!

What Derrick brings to the table

I bring colorful illustations and maps to immerse the party in the world, as well as tailored stories that match the party within the world we build together. You can expect personalized soundscapes to match the campaign and an open door policy so we can talk about how to give you the best experience in ongoing games.

Homebrew rules

I have a homebrewed version of camp activities I use where its based on the classes you pick, allowing players to have access to more of them as the campaign goes on.

Safety

How Derrick creates a safe table

I use Lines and Veils to ensure anything that may trigger my players gets handled, and I do not tolerate harassment of any sort within my games. We will also all get together in a session 0 to discuss expectations, and we'll be using stars and wishes. I am bi and use he/him pronouns, and I run a LGBT+ and POC inclusive game For game experience, I am well versed with the rules but believe in rule of cool when it'll bring the party as a whole the most happiness. Expect fun interactions with colorful characters and combats that serve the story and worldbuilding first and foremost before anything else! We take a 10 minute break every session to let folks get a snack and use the bathroom! As for content warnings, with this being fabula ultima, a lot of what we will encounter in the story will be something we discuss as a party at the table! So make sure to let me know your Lines and Veils so we can set the right expectations to begin on the right foot.
