Creating your character
When We build: We will build and finalize characters together during our dedicated Session 0. Do not worry about having a complete sheet ready before then! Where We Build: We will use D&D Beyond. As a Master Tier subscriber, I will provide a campaign sharing link during session 0. This gives you instant, free digital access to all official 2024 sourcebooks. Ther Ruleset: Strictly the 2024 D&D Core Rules. No legacy 2014 content or player-side homebrew/custom species/classes are permitted. Starting Level: Level 1 Stat Generation: Standard Array (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8) or Point Buy. No rolling for stats. What to Bring to Session 0: Just bring 1 or 2 rough character concepts or themes you are excited to play (e.g., "a sneaky rouge" or "a tactical fighter"). We will handle all the technical math, safety tools, and party integration together!

Preparing for the session
Player Preparation Checklist Accounts: Please have a free Discord account and a free D&D Beyond account set up and ready to use before our start time. Hardware: A reliable internet connection, a desktop computer or laptop (tablets are not recommended for the VTT Virtual Tabletop), and a decent microphone/headset for clear voice communication. Webcams are entirely optional, as are costumes! Software: No installations required! We will be using Discord for voice/chat and D&D Beyond Maps directly inside your web browser. Character Sheets: Do not build a character beforehand. I will provide a D&D Beyond campaign link at the start of session 0 that gives you free access to the 2024 digital books. Just bring 1 or 2 rough concepts you are excited about!

Traditional Characters, Dynamic World: To ensure a balanced and fair game, character creation is strictly limited to the official 2024 D&D Core Rules - No player-side homebrew or custom species/classes allowed. However, to capture the dangerous magic of ancient Shadowdale, the world itself features unique DM homebrew elements: Unpredictable Monsters: Standard monsters have been tweaked with new abilities, altered attributes to keep combat fresh, surprising, and engaging for veterans and new players alike. Monster Harvesting & Custom loot: Slain foes aren't just empty stat blocks. Skilled characters can harvest unique components (like hides, venoms, or rare essences) from defeated monsters to craft custom gear, upgrades, and specialized consumables. Unique Relics: Treasures found throughout your time-travel journey will feature entirely unique, narrative-driven magical properties custom-designed by the GM.
