About the adventure
“Lord, what fools these mortals be!” Deep beneath the earth, an ancient evil stirs. The mortal world is fresh out of miracles, and traditional weapons are of no avail. Salvation lies in a stolen artifact capable of forcing the monster back into the dark. The problem? It has been pilfered by the ultimate trickster, Puck, who has fled straight into the glittering, chaotic heart of Shakespeare’s Fae Realm. You have exactly one night to cross the threshold into a world of moonlight, mischief, and shifting loyalties. To retrieve the artifact, your party must navigate the capricious, high-stakes politics of the Fae Court, decipher the riddles of a woodland where the rules of reality change on a whim, and hunt down a sprite who considers your desperate quest to be nothing more than excellent entertainment. Will you return as the saviors of the mortal realm, or become just another cautionary tale told to the fairy royalty? What to Expect at the Table Part of the Chapters Unwritten series; an anthology exploring classic literature, myths, and beloved stories turned completely on their ear (no previous experience required); this module is a love letter to high-stakes fantasy and literary chaos using the D&D 5E (2024) ruleset. Our session will be heavily driven by character interaction, creative problem-solving, and whimsical-yet-dangerous exploration. You can expect to navigate courtly intrigue, untangle a few fey puzzles, and engage in an epic, cinematic combat or two where the environment itself might be alive. Who Is This For? This adventure is tailor-made for roleplayers, Theatre and English nerds, creative thinkers, and anyone who loves a game where wit is just as sharp as a sword. If you enjoy rich NPC interactions, clever storytelling, and a table that prioritizes a fun, collaborative, and highly imaginative experience, your seat is waiting. Bring your creativity, watch your step, and whatever you do... don’t give them your real name!

Meet the Game Master
About me
Hi, I’m Jim! Some folks know me by my Twitch handle, EvilJimX. I’ve been playing and running TTRPGs and LARPs for over 30 years. As a GM/DM, I have extensive experience with D&D (3rd, 3.5, and 5th editions), Vampire: The Masquerade (Revised and 5th ed.), D20 Modern, and multiple Star Wars TTRPGs. I’m also currently dipping my toes into Daggerheart to see where that adventure leads. As a player, if a game is put in front of me, I’ll play it. I’ve created more characters than I can count and been part of countless games — many that ended early (we’ve all been there), but it’s the long-term campaigns that hold my fondest and most impactful memories. As a writer, I love creating custom campaign settings for my stories. Building worlds allows me to be as invested in the narrative as my players are, and it gives us a unique shared space to explore. My approach to GMing is collaborative. The GM may be the story teller, but I want my players to feel they have a real hand in the creation of the world they inhabit. This comes partly from my background in the performing arts, and partly from the fact that it’s the kind of game I enjoy most as a player. I’m excited for the chance to tell unforgettable stories together — and maybe create a few memories you’ll be talking about for years to come.

Creating your character
Upon booking, you will receive a link to our D&D Beyond campaign and my Discord server. My goal is to have all characters ready to go before the session starts, and I am always available on Discord to help with any questions! The Rules: - System: D&D 5E (2024 Player's Handbook). - Allowed Options: Characters must be built using only options found in the 2024 PHB. To keep the one-shot streamlined, no custom or third-party options will be available for this session. - Stats/Ability Scores: Generated using the Point Buy method. - Platform: Built directly within the provided D&D Beyond campaign link. Note: If you love your character and want to transfer them into an upcoming long-format campaign after the one-shot, we can discuss custom adjustments and expanded options then!
What to expect
Preparing for the session
If you have not yet created an account on DnDBeyond, please do so. You character sheet will live there, and we will roll dice and run encounters in DnDBeyond. If you don't have Discord, you can go to Discord.com to use either their online platform or download the app. The game will be running on Discord, so this is not optional. I will be emailing you an invite to the Discord Server that we will be using. Once booked, please feel free to reach out to me if you need any help setting these systems up.
What EvilJimX brings to the table
As a actor and vocalist with over 40 years of performances under my belt, I offer what I'd like to think is a fairly dynamic RP experience. I use accents, character voices, and the like to give characters life. I also like to use ambient music and maybe even a sound effect or two when appropriate! While I adhere to Rules as Written (RAW) in general cases, I am a BIG proponent to the Rule of Cool. Be creative, sell me on your idea. Even if it doesn't work 100% the way you'd like, I tend to reward creativity every chance I get. My sessions tend to be RP heavy, and this one-shot has a fair amount of comedy. If you are looking for a super-serious, combat-heavy session, there are some great options on the site; this one just isn't for you. If you are looking to spend a few hours in ridiculous situations, interacting with fun characters and getting into a scrape or two, this is the place for you!

Safety
How EvilJimX creates a safe table
Creating a safe, inclusive, and welcoming table is a core part of my GM philosophy. Storytelling is at its best when everyone feels comfortable enough to participate fully, take risks, and explore the narrative without fear of discomfort or harm. That’s why I make safety an active, ongoing part of every game I run; not just a checkbox at the start, but a regular, thoughtful practice built into the structure of our sessions. Before a campaign begins, I’ll send out a safety survey and Lines and Veils document. This gives players a chance to privately and honestly note any content they’d prefer be excluded from the game entirely (Lines), or topics that can exist in the world but should be handled with care or off-screen (Veils). It also allows for discussion of narrative preferences, potential triggers, and desired tone so I can tailor the experience to suit the group’s comfort levels. As this is a one-shot, a full Session Zero is not really possible. That being said, in the time leading up to the session, my Discord will serve as a good place to communicate any thing that I need to know to make sure that the session is a fun and safe place for you to play. Mid-session, I invite you to either speak up with concerns, if possible, or message me directly if you wish your concern to be in private. Players can always message me privately mid-game if something’s not sitting right or if they need a quick break — no questions asked, no explanations required. After each session, I like to conduct informal aftercare: a quick check-in where everyone has the chance to decompress, share highlights, voice concerns and give me feedback. In most cases, this will take about 15 - 20 minutes at the end of the session. If a session includes heavier themes, particularly tense moments, or intense character conflict, I’ll make additional space at the end for players to step out of character and process as needed. Players are welcome to message me privately afterward as well for any follow-up thoughts, concerns, or feedback. Most importantly, my table is a space where respect is non-negotiable. Harassment, bigotry, gatekeeping, or toxic behavior of any kind won’t be tolerated. I work hard to cultivate a supportive, inclusive atmosphere where everyone’s boundaries and preferences are honored, and where creativity, humor, and bold storytelling are encouraged.
