About the adventure
Every town has problems. Most are too small for heroes. Too strange for guards. Too dangerous for merchants. Too forgotten for anyone else to care. That's where the Guild of Unfinished Business comes in. You are members of an adventuring guild dedicated to solving the jobs that nobody else wants. Missing persons. Haunted windmills. Strange creatures in the woods. Cursed relics. Political scandals. Forgotten ruins. Every completed contract leads to new opportunities, new mysteries, and new stories. This is a living, character-driven campaign where the focus is on storytelling, roleplay, exploration, investigation, and the relationships that develop between adventurers over time. Combat will absolutely occur, but it is not the primary focus of the game. Expect meaningful choices, personal character arcs, recurring NPCs, moral dilemmas, and opportunities to shape the world through your actions. Whether you're a veteran adventurer carrying old regrets or a newcomer looking to make a name for yourself, there is always another contract waiting on the guild's notice board. Play-by-Post Expectations This is an asynchronous play-by-post game. There is no scheduled session time. Players should expect to contribute at least one post per day on average. Some days may be busier than others, but consistent participation helps keep the story moving for everyone. The game is designed to accommodate different schedules and time zones while maintaining momentum. The more you invest in your character and their relationships, the more rewarding the experience will be.

About me
Hi, I'm Nikki! I've always loved stories, and D&D is my favorite way to tell them. As a Dungeon Master, I love creating worlds that feel alive and giving players the chance to leave their mark on them. Some of my favorite moments at the table aren't the big boss fights (though those are fun too)—they're the unexpected conversations, the terrible plans that somehow work, the friendships that form between characters, and the moments that make everyone sit back and say, "Well... that changes everything." My games tend to be roleplay-heavy and character-focused. I want your choices to matter, your backstory to matter, and your character to feel like they're part of the world rather than just passing through it. Combat is absolutely part of the adventure, but the heart of my games is always the story we're building together. I love playing with both new and veteran players. If you're brand new to D&D, I'm happy to help you learn the rules and find your footing. If you've been playing for years, I'll give you plenty of opportunities to dive deep into your character and help shape the story. At my table, you can expect: Character-driven storytelling Lots of roleplay opportunities Memorable NPCs and worldbuilding Meaningful choices and consequences A welcoming, inclusive environment A healthy mix of humor, drama, mystery, and adventure

Creating your character
- D&D 5e - Official published material welcome - homebrew allowed with permission - New and experienced players encouraged - Character backstories will matter - Personal goals, flaws, and relationships will be incorporated into the campaign - Need to have a reason to be willing to take jobs for money. We will discuss character concepts before beginning the campaign to fine tune them for the campaign.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
You will need a Discord account and a DnDBeyond account. VTT can be determined as a group (Owlbear Rodeo is nice and won't require you to make accounts).
What Nikki brings to the table
My games are first and foremost about collaborative storytelling, character development, and creating memorable moments together. While combat absolutely has a place in the story, it isn't usually the centerpiece. Expect encounters with meaningful stakes, opportunities for creative problem solving, and conflicts that grow naturally from the narrative rather than existing simply for the sake of having a fight. Because this campaign revolves around an adventuring guild taking on contracts, there is room for an enormous variety of stories and settings. One assignment might send you into a classic high-fantasy kingdom to investigate a dragon cult. The next could involve a gothic manor filled with restless spirits, a strange sci-fi ruin left behind by an ancient civilization, a mystery in a bustling modern city, or a surreal journey into a dreamlike realm where reality itself behaves differently. The guild structure allows us to explore different genres, themes, and tones while still maintaining a consistent cast of characters and an ongoing story. You can expect a world filled with recurring NPCs, rival adventuring groups, guild officials, strange patrons, allies, villains, and people whose lives are changed by your actions. I love building relationships between player characters and NPCs, and I enjoy giving characters personal story arcs that evolve alongside the larger campaign. As a GM, I tend to favor character-driven storytelling over strictly sticking to the rules as written. I enjoy rewarding creativity, clever ideas, and dramatic choices. I generally lean toward Rule of Cool when it enhances the story and creates exciting moments, while still maintaining enough structure and consistency for your choices and abilities to feel meaningful. Rules matter, but the story comes first. Roleplay is heavily encouraged, and players who enjoy developing relationships, pursuing personal goals, engaging with the world, and helping shape the narrative will likely get the most out of this game. Whether we're solving mysteries, exploring forgotten ruins, negotiating peace between rival factions, surviving a horror scenario, or uncovering secrets buried across worlds, my goal is always the same: create a story that feels uniquely shaped by the characters at the table.

How Nikki creates a safe table
Each player will be given a consent sheet full of different possible triggers to mark as green, yellow or red that I will keep on hand - to be completed before we start the campaign. Since we are playing asynchronously, any time a player needs to stop a scene or moment, I ask that they please DM me as soon as they can and I will step in and pivot the convo as necessary.
