About the adventure

“Your death is a company expense.” Acquisitions Incorporated is expanding, and Head Office is looking for a brand-new franchise team bold enough, desperate enough, or financially unstable enough to represent the company in the field. Welcome to the adventuring business. This Dungeons & Dragons 5e campaign blends classic fantasy adventure with corporate absurdity, office comedy, questionable management decisions, and dangerous dungeon delving. You are not wandering heroes seeking glory. You are employees. Contractors. Brand ambassadors armed with swords, spells, and legally dubious paperwork. Your franchise will begin with a shabby headquarters, a tiny licensed territory, a handful of hirelings, and far more ambition than common sense. From there, you’ll build your business, develop your brand, survive hostile competitors, and hopefully avoid becoming part of the company’s necromantic retirement package. Expect: • Corporate fantasy comedy • Franchise building and customization • Long-term character development • Downtime systems and business management • Rival adventuring groups • Weird magical technology • Dangerous mysteries hidden beneath ridiculous paperwork • A balance of humor, tension, and real stakes Your franchise may start in a haunted tavern, a ruined lighthouse, a battered wagon, or some equally questionable property approved by Head Office.

About me

Hi! I’m Moses, and I use she/they pronouns. I have a Ph.D. in English, 10 years of teaching experience, and a love for games that feel personal, emotional, and alive. I run D&D 5e, both 2014 and 2024 rules, Deathmatch Island, and other story-focused TTRPGs. My tables are collaborative and character-driven, with room for dramatic choices, messy plans, emotional reveals, and the kind of chaos only players can create. I like building worlds that respond to what the party does, not forcing everyone through a pre-written script. New players are very welcome, and veterans will still have plenty to dig into. I care about clear guidance, player agency, open communication, safety tools, and making sure everyone gets a chance to matter. Come tell a story with me. We’ll make it weird, heartfelt, dramatic, funny, and worth remembering.

Character creation

Creating your character

- Players begin at Level 1 as new members of an Acquisitions Incorporated franchise. - Character creation can happen before the game starts or with help in the Discord server. - Use official D&D 5e material. - Acquisitions Incorporated backgrounds and franchise roles are encouraged, but not required. - Homebrew/third-party content may be approved case by case. - Stats use standard array or point buy. - Starting equipment comes from your class and background. - Characters should have a reason to join and stay with the franchise. - Focus on personality, goals, flaws, and teamwork over pure optimization. - The party should feel like a chaotic but functional fantasy business team.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

1️⃣ Discord Account Ready Make sure you have a Discord account and the app installed on your preferred device. Most gameplay, roleplay, updates, and announcements will happen through the server. 2️⃣ Join the Campaign Server Accepted players will receive a private Discord invite link. Please read the rules, safety tools, lore, and character creation channels before posting. 3️⃣ Create Your Character Create a Level 1 character using official D&D 5e content. Acquisitions Incorporated options are encouraged but not required. Your character should have ambition, flaws, and a reason to work with the franchise instead of acting as a lone wolf. 4️⃣ Character & Profile Setup Set your Discord nickname to something readable, such as: Character Name | Class or Character Name | Player Name Character portraits, moodboards, and formatting styles are optional but encouraged for immersion. 5️⃣ AI Use Policy Players are discouraged from using AI for campaign writing, character decisions, roleplay posts, backstory writing, lore creation, or problem-solving. AI may only be used for post formatting and image creation. The DM may use AI for formatting assistance and image creation, but all campaign content, story material, rulings, lore, NPCs, encounters, and roleplay are human-made. 6️⃣ Posting Expectations Please aim for consistent activity throughout the week to help keep the story moving. Play-by-post works best when players actively contribute scenes, conversations, and ideas rather than only reacting to events. 7️⃣ Read Safety Tools & Boundaries The game includes comedy, danger, interpersonal conflict, and occasional darker fantasy themes, but player comfort comes first. Clear boundaries, consent tools, and respectful communication are expected from everyone. 8️⃣ Bring a Collaborative Mindset This is a character-driven, long-term story built through collaborative writing and roleplay. Players who enjoy creativity, initiative, party dynamics, and contributing to the atmosphere of the campaign will get the most out of the experience.

What Moses brings to the table

My Discord server has a dedicated group of players and mods ready to help. I have all content on D&D Beyond for players to use at any time. All of my games are POC, LGBT+, and Neurodivergent friendly. Players must be 18+ as game content may not be suitable for minors.

Homebrew rules

This game is listed with a scheduled time on StartPlaying for advertising and billing purposes only. There are no live sessions to attend. Instead, this is a fully asynchronous Play-by-Post campaign on Discord: • You write your character’s actions and dialogue through text posts • You participate on your own schedule throughout the week • The story progresses as players post and respond • No need to match time zones or be online together It functions like a collaborative fantasy novel — each player’s posts drive the narrative forward in this open world. The scheduled listing simply ensures SPG can track session dates and process payments reliably. Your real play time happens whenever you choose to step onto campus.

Safety

How Moses creates a safe table

Themes such as violence, psychological elements, and mature content may be present but will be tailored to your comfort levels. Certain subjects like sexual assault, harm to children, and harm to domestic animals will never be explicitly described in our games. During our first session, we'll discuss safety tools and content preferences. I adhere to a strict policy against discrimination (sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, etc.) and aim to create a respectful and safe environment for all players. Feel free to reach out with any concerns or requests!
