About Moses

Hi! I’m Moses, and I use she/they pronouns. I have a Ph.D. in English, 10 years of teaching experience, and a love for games that feel personal, emotional, and alive. I run D&D 5e, both 2014 and 2024 rules, Deathmatch Island, and other story-focused TTRPGs. My tables are collaborative and character-driven, with room for dramatic choices, messy plans, emotional reveals, and the kind of chaos only players can create. I like building worlds that respond to what the party does, not forcing everyone through a pre-written script. New players are very welcome, and veterans will still have plenty to dig into. I care about clear guidance, player agency, open communication, safety tools, and making sure everyone gets a chance to matter. Come tell a story with me. We’ll make it weird, heartfelt, dramatic, funny, and worth remembering.

I got started GMing...

games during the pandemic, when online TTRPGs became a lifeline for connection and creativity. What began as a one-shot quickly turned into full campaigns, layered arcs, and the realization that I love building worlds alongside my players.

My favorite shows/movies are

I’m inspired by stories like Hannibal NBC, Pacific Rim, Attack on Titan, Heated Rivalry, and Moon Knight: stories full of psychological tension, enormous stakes, complicated relationships, and people caught between power and vulnerability.

People are always surprised when I tell them

I’ve never played a TTRPG in person. Every game I’ve run or played has been online, but that has never stopped my tables from creating strong bonds, dramatic turns, and moments people remember long after the session ends.

How Moses runs games

More Than a Game: A Shared Story My sessions tend to feel like cinematic episodes: emotional, dramatic, and full of character moments that stick with you after the game ends. Deep Roleplay, Bad Accents Not Included I love roleplay, but I focus more on personality than performance. I will spare you my terrible character voices, which is honestly a gift. Instead, I build NPCs through their goals, flaws, habits, and relationships, giving your character room to grow, fall apart, fall in love, get angry, make mistakes, and change. Story-First, Player-Focused With a Ph.D. in English and years of teaching and storytelling experience, I build games where your choices matter. Your backstory is not just decoration. It becomes part of the world, and the plot shifts based on what the party actually does. Combat: Rare, But Brutal I do not roll initiative just to fill time. Combat at my table is less frequent, but when it happens, it matters. Fights are dangerous, tactical, and tied to the story, with real stakes and real consequences. For New Players and Veterans Whether this is your first TTRPG or your five-hundredth session, I will meet you where you are. I enjoy teaching new players, and I also love giving experienced players space to dig into character choices, strategy, and system mastery. Safe, Inclusive, and Actually Welcoming My tables are queer-friendly, POC-friendly, neurodivergent-friendly, and built around respect. I use consent tools and open communication so everyone feels safe, heard, and included. My goal is for players to feel like they belong at the table, not like they have to prove they deserve a seat. Play Between Sessions Want more story between games? I offer free play-by-post options so you can explore character arcs, NPC relationships, downtime, and world lore outside of the main session.

If my games were Movies they'd be directed by...

they would be directed by Guillermo del Toro for the haunting beauty, James Gunn for the messy found-family chaos, and Taika Waititi for those perfectly timed gut-punches wrapped in humor.

My games focus on...

cinematic episodes: emotional, dramatic, strange, funny, and full of choices that matter. We make room for side banter, bad ideas, dramatic reveals, and the occasional emotional gut-punch without getting too precious about the rulebook.

Rules are...

flexible… until they aren’t. Just make sure you know when you’re bending them, and when they’re bending you.

Moses's ideal table

My table is collaborative, character-driven, and built on trust. The vibe is cinematic, emotional, funny, and a little chaotic. We balance side banter and jokes with serious character moments, dramatic reveals, and meaningful choices. You’ll fit well here if you enjoy roleplay, messy characters, creative problem-solving, and building something with the group. New players are welcome, and experienced players will have room to dig deep. Rules matter, but story flow, fairness, and player comfort matter more. Combat is rare, but when it happens, it is dangerous, tactical, and tied to the story. This is a queer-friendly, POC-friendly, neurodivergent-friendly table where communication and consent tools are standard. Teasing and playful chaos are welcome. Bigotry and “it’s what my character would do” excuses are not.

I think it's a red flag when players...

treat the game like it’s them versus the party or the GM. This is a collaborative table. We’re here to connect, make each other look good, and build something together. If that’s not what you’re looking for, you may be in the wrong tavern.

I think metagaming...

happens. It’s human nature to connect dots, especially when you’re invested in the story. The important thing is taking a second to ask, “What would my character actually know or do here?” When in doubt, check in with me. I’m always happy to help sort out what makes sense in-character.

My table is not the place for...

Not a fit for players who excuse disruptive behavior with “it’s what my character would do,” ignore story/roleplay, or bring bigotry to the table. We tease, joke, and cause chaos, but always with trust, respect, drama, laughs, and heart.
