About the adventure

Explore the Trojan Reaches as a rag-tag crew struggling to make ends meet in a galaxy that cares little about you. Explore the area between great empires, a true frontier with small colonies, pocket empires, dictators, communes, and backwaters. Your characters can make an impact in this area and gain a reputation amongst the stars. Will you be merchants, plying the space lanes? Trouble-shooters that take any job that comes your way? Smugglers and pirates that turn desperately to crime to pay your mortgage? All three? Find out in the Trojan Reaches! The adventure will start with your characters reuniting after exiting their careers and choosing the itinerant path of a Traveller. Connections between characters are established during character creation. Your characters have been hired by Erek Raedelli to help him find his nephew after the freighter he worked on was declared officially missing. He is providing his own ship, the Voidskipper, for this mission, but if one of your characters roll their own ship during character creation, we can discuss how that changes the starting point.

About me

I've been a GM for over 15 years now, and have been playing since the late 90's and Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 2e. I have run Dungeons and Dragons (0e, B/X, 1e, 3.5, 5e), Vampire: The Masquerade, Call of Cthulhu, Fate, Cyberpunk, Mechwarrior, Pathfinder (1e, 2e), and Traveller in that time. I'm a huge fan of rules-lite games that allow for quick resolution. Personally I view my improvisational ability as my greatest strength as a GM. I have a strong emphasis on player agency and player driven stories. I love giving my players a sandbox and seeing what stories they want to tell. I also specialize in taking the ideas my players have about their characters backstories, enemies, and friends, and weaving those into scenarios seamlessly. I often work with published modules, but rarely run them out of the box. I like to customize them to the players and characters at my table in order to make them more engaging and enjoyable experiences. I am a trans lesbian, queer friendly, and inclusive. I will use safety tools if desired, though have for the most part used informal interrupts and messages if any lines are crossed. I believe in strong session 0s to establish expectations and lines. Both on my side and that of my players. I have a low tolerance for disruptive players and am not afraid to eject them from my table.

Character creation

Creating your character

Traveller character creation follows a lifepath system. It is fine going in with an idea of what you want to be, but you may end up somewhere completely different. You may want to be a doctor, but then get drafted into the army and serve on the front lines as a battle medic, or something even wilder. We will generate stats by rolling 12d6 and replacing your two lowest rolls with 5s. You then pair two numbers together to create a statistic and place it where you wish. During the lifepath process you get 2 free rerolls and 1 automatic success. If you don't use these, you may trade them in at the end of character creation for bonuses for your character that fit their concept.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

A free account for Fantasy Grounds is needed. Additionally, a microphone is required. I have a webcam and will be on camera. I prefer other players to be on camera as well, as a part of roleplay is body language. This is not required, however.

What Fey brings to the table

We will be using Fantasy Grounds as our VTT, which requires a free account to access. I will be providing maps and tokens. The content I own in Fantasy Grounds will be available for players to use as they desire. I will be be providing improvisational reactions to your choices, emphasizing problem solving and actions having consequences. My games can be tense at times, but at other times hilarious, it depends on the energy I have to work with! I view the rules as a solid framework to guide a story and only break them when necessary, however I tend to play rules-lite games that allow for player creativity in their DNA.

Homebrew rules

I provide 2 free rerolls during character creation, and one automatic success. Character creation uses a variant found in the Traveller Companion that allows a bit more flexibility and slightly more heroic stats.
