About me

I have been adventuring in Dungeons & Dragons since 2007, guiding heroes through perilous dungeons, strange realms, and stories that linger long after the dice stop rolling. With nearly two decades at the table, I bring the instincts of a seasoned storyteller and the calm hand of a director shaping an unfolding narrative in real time. I began my adult life as a filmmaker, learning how to craft tension, pacing, character arcs, and cinematic moments. That background still shapes every session I run: battles feel dramatic, discoveries feel meaningful, and the world feels like a living story rather than a static game board. I have a PhD in the arts, deepening my understanding of narrative, performance, and collaborative creativity. The result is a style of Dungeon Mastering that blends theatrical storytelling, improvisation, and thoughtful worldbuilding with the unpredictability of the dice. Mechanics exist to support the story, not suffocate it. Clever ideas, bold risks, and heroic nonsense are welcome at his table. If a player comes up with something brilliant, absurd, or spectacular, chances are the answer will be yes. Whether you’re a brand-new adventurer or a veteran hero, mygames are designed to be welcoming, dramatic, and unforgettable.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will start the session with some simple questions to figure out some basics of your character. Then I will give you a starting town and some quick backstory about their past up until the point we are at now asking a few questions and rolling a few dice to decide outcomes. These will inform some basics to be filled out on your character sheet (which you will fill out as we go). Each time your character gains an ability, spell, skill, item there will be a story reason behind it and an opportunity as a player to learn how it functions in the game. Eventually, we will have an event that will set your character on their heroic path to becoming an adventurer, you will play through this making dice checks and roleplay choices and depending on your character possibly even some combat. At the end of the session, you will have a completed backstory, character sheet, and be ready to jump into a campaign.

What Dr DM brings to the table

I will bring the storytelling and the sourcebooks. You just need to show up and enjoy playing through the story. Like a choose your own adventure book with a narrator. At the end I will give you a Character folio containing your character sheet, backstory, some character art, roleplay tips, roleplaying tips, combat tips, and a "secrets file" for your DM offering custom magical items tied to your backstory, narrative hooks, NPC's from your past, and other options for the DM to integrate into the campaign (if they choose).* *The secrets file is prepared seperately so that you can simply send the file to the DM without reading it to avoid spoilers.
