About the adventure
This campaign will be set in a world with heavily inspired by ancient greco-roman themes. You are someone who, for one reason or another, has been thrown into the gladiator pits and must now fight for your life each and every day, all for the entertainment of the masses. This campaign is pretty straightforward, consisting mostly of combat with others themes, such as roleplay, here and there. While PvP combat may eventually be included(if agreed upon by everyone involved), this campaign will mostly cover the battles you will have against monsters or other gladiators, whether individual or together. The main avenues that you may go down within this game is rising through the gladiatorial ranks and being crowned a champion, inciting a revolt to break free of your bondage, or attempting to threaten or persuade someone with enough status to grant you freedom. As a note: this campaign is mainly designed for martial combat, due this being a low magic setting. While there is space for magic, it will be near and far in between(truly only allowed via getting spells from feats or racial traits, or playing a 1/3 caster).

Meet the Game Master
About me
I have over 6 years of experience GM-ing, across multiple systems. I got into the tabletop world via D&D, and since then I've honed my craft as much as a can with systems like Blades In The Dark, CAIN, Vampire: The Masquerade, and more. I tend to go for more story driven games, where other themes like combat and exploration are used to add depth. Two of the things I value most in a game is freedom and the a good player backstory, one that I can interweave into the world itself.

Creating your character
All characters will start at level 3 and preferably created via d&d beyond. Stats will be decided by rolling 4d6, dropping the lowest, and allocating the results to whichever stats. In addition, your character will be allowed a free starting feat.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
All you will need for this game is a discord account and a d&d beyond account(or an alternative such as dicecloud).
What KEY brings to the table
Due to the nature of play by post, you will get an immersive world with room for interaction and every turn. All of the combats will be decently tactical and intense, considering that your character's life will be on the line. I value creativity above all else, so I will be willing to allow something that is not in the rules with the caveat of it requiring an ability check(maybe multiple) and that there will be a consequence if you fail.
Homebrew rules
Drinking potions can be done as a bonus action. Drinking or administering a potion as an action will grant you the maximum effect, instead of rolling dice. Upon a critical hit, you will deal maximum damage, and then rolling your second set of damage die. On a critical success for an ability check or saving throw, you will have advantage on certain rolls afterward. In turn, on a critical failure, you will have disadvantage on certain rolls afterward. After being downed and brought back up, if you go down again the DC for your death save will increase by 1. To ensure for more interesting combat in a low magic setting, you will be allowed to use certain homebrewed combat abilities, which you will choose after finishing your character creation.

How KEY creates a safe table
I will host a session 0 and send a RPG Consent Checklist, to give players the opportunity to to inform me what content should be excluded. I will use Stars and Wishes , as well as Xs, Ns, and Os, which can be sent to me digitally. In addition, a day or two before each session I will send a list of the content that is planned to be included in the session.
