About me

I run story-rich, player-driven adventures. You bring the characters—I’ll bring the world—we will make it ours together. My GM style is relaxed, story-rich, and collaborative. Whether you want kick-down-the-door dungeon crawls, exploration, westmarches, horror, or mysteries in the dark, I’ll tailor the game to your players. One-shots are brisk and punchy, delivering a complete adventure in a single session. Campaigns are dynamic and sandbox-style, shaped by your preferences, backstories, and play style. I’ve run many games and campaigns across a variety of systems: • D&D • Dungeon Crawl Classics • Mutant Crawl Classics • Call of Cthulhu • Traveller, • Top Secret • Shadowdark • Mörk, Cy_Borg, Pirate Borg My shelves are stacked with classics and modern gems alike—I’ve got you covered. If not, I can run it. I’ve run games for everything from bachelor parties to birthday surprises, corporate team-building events to reunions. My tables are welcoming, flexible, and focused on making sure everyone has fun. The best games are forged in shared challenges and the camaraderie that comes with them. Let’s tell some amazing stories together!

Character creation

Creating your character

Pre-made characters are available or can also be made with me on Discord (scheduled live session or via message) using D&DBeyond. You do not need to know anything about character creation, how the game works, or anything about the game. We can cover all of this together. I will send you an invite to the campaign on D&D Beyond and Discord.

The current party

The storm before you blows head-on into your face. Airborne ice crystals sting your eyes and bite at your cheeks, the blizzard presents itself as a virtually impenetrable wall that is always ahead of you. Now and again, particularly when the cold wind blows very hard, in the distance you hear a ringing sound—perhaps the tolling of a large bell. It all started when Hira, a local priestess of The Lady of Blue, or the blue goddess, a local deity. Hira is a devout priestess who sincerely and effectively watches over the people of Varawa. Hira is obviously troubled, however, and there is more to her worry than the people of Rhund. Her younger brother, Marhl, traveled to Rhund just before the storm came. She has no idea what became of him. The Valley of Thorns is long and narrow, created by a fast-moving river called the Rhundis. On the banks of this river, white roses grow thickly on thorn-covered vines, giving the valley its name. Two villages are located in the valley, one at its mouth and one deeper in. Varawa is at the mouth of the valley where the Rhundis plunges over Rose Falls and into the more fertile lowlands to the south and east. The small town of Rhund supports itself with the raising of cattle, which are taken to Varawa on barges and eventually to other communities. Varawa is a larger community whose people are vegetable farmers. The people of both towns are dark of hair and complexion, usually wearing loose-fitting white tunics or light robes. Now...though...winter has come. An unseasonable uncharacteristic winter in this warm climate. In Varawa, winter has gripped the valley for two weeks. The entire area is covered in 5 to 6 feet of snow and the river is filled with ice (but not completely frozen over yet). Many of the people of the valley have fled, but others stayed. At first, they believed that it was afluke and that it would end quickly. Even when they knew that it was no mere random happenstance, they thought it would eventually end. Now, most are convinced that it is magic, but they still believe that it can be overcome. The cold has spread. It originated deeper within the valley, it is said, but its radius is growing. It will be a threat to larger communities farther out as the winter storm grows.

What Mark brings to the table

I am bringing decades of games experience, a robust community, in depth characterisation and the flexibility to adapt to player styles and choices. How Mark creates a safe table

Each player will be provided with a private Discord channel for the discussion of issues or concerns before, during and after sessions. The content warnings will vary depending on the game choice, but it is highly likely the game will have levels of violence involving player characters and non-player characters, with death always being a possibility. SAFETY TOOLS ・During Session 0 we will discuss Lines and Veils. ・A 10 minute break will occur roughly halfway through the session. Additional breaks are always available on request. ・Further details of all tool implementations are provided within the discord server. Feel free to ask any questions for clarification.
