About the adventure
Come and visit Nix's Tavern! Bring a character at any level for games of chance, revelry, role play, and perhaps a random battle! A monthly drop in gathering held on Final Fridays (until OCT - DEC which will run the week before due to holidays) with a special focus on Role Play practice. These games will benefit mutual aid organizations. Come and go as you need throughout the hours, as if you're arriving at a Tavern. Bring your party or come on your own! Read through for safety boundaries. For January, 2026 we will be partnering with StartPlaying to benefit The Okra Project! SPG will cover their administrative costs so 100% of your fees go directly to support trans folks in Florida. They are also matching up to $1,000 in donations. Let's help while having some fun shenanigans!

About me

To improvise imaginative stories together where we can problem solve, overcome obstacles, choose hope, and carve a better reality together? It is my deep and abiding joy. Storytelling is an ancient tradition and it is a gift to share this skill with others. I began GM'ing many years ago after I finished my doctoral work in storytelling. Adding my theatre training alongside of my decades of community building, these three threads spin together to create the warp of our story's tapestry. I love to teach, guide, and encourage. I listen, watch, and celebrate communal and cooperative story telling. I love to nurture, cajole, and challenge a group of people towards a common goal. To find your story threads, grab onto them, and weave them into a cohesive tapestry that we can each remember with satisfaction. Whether we choose Dungeons and Dragons 5e, Thirsty Sword Lesbians, a simple one page rule set, or something yet to be released - together we will use the mechanics of the system and our imaginations to create something beautiful.

Creating your character
Bring a D&D 5e character of any level to the Tavern. NOTE: If you would like to bring a Thirsty Sword Lesbian Playbook, Daggerheart character, or a character you have built from Legend in the Mist you are welcome to do this, as well! Just inform me ahead so I can prep! Characters must be suitable to play with minors in attendance or within earshot. If you would like to receive a prebuilt character please let me know ahead of time in Discord! I can certainly help you out but we'll need to have a little chat first. I am able to honor 2014 or 2024 character builds. I will be defaulting to 2024 5e base rules for encounters.

What Nix brings to the table
Nix's Table Discord Server I am a storytelling DM that relies on my theatre background to help bring things to life. I utilize voices and accents as well as posture and facial expression to give unique qualities to different NPC's. I am a patient teacher and have worked with a wide variety of people throughout my life. It is a joy to create a fun and playful environment for growth and experimentation.
Homebrew rules
All Home Rules are outlined in Discord with more details. Healing Potions - taking one is a bonus action; giving one is an action. If you use your action to self administer during combat the value is automatically max. Flanking - Will be decided together the first time it comes up in game if it requires across or next to. Will apply to players & combatants.

How Nix creates a safe table
We will establish safety words for the entire event at the beginning and folks will be reminded of them throughout. As this will be a drop in with various community members therefore the following topics will be observed as hard lines and will not be included in any role play or featured in any encounter: Homophobia, Transphobia, Gaslighting, Sexual Abuse/Assault of any kind, Police Violence, Genocide, Torture to Children or Animals I observe the right to add to this list at any time without explanation or justification. If you have a particular hard line you would also like included in game play when you register for the event, please let me know in Discord chats. I will be certain to add it to the list and keep us all safe in our fun together.
