About the adventure

Lethchauntos was an Orc sage who specialized in poisons. After his own work led to the death of his family, he became a recluse, burying his work away in a hidden library. However, rumors of the discovery of this lost library now swirl around Icewind Dale. The Zhentarim are already scrambling to send a search party to loot the library; their plan is to sell its deadly secrets to the highest bidder. Your patron's plan is to stop them, and she's offering you good gold to make that happen. Do you have what it takes to stop the Zhentarim? And if so, what will you do with the library when you find it?

About me

Hail and well met! My name is Chris! I've been a lover of fantasy and gaming since I was a kid. I'm currently a high school teacher of English, history, and psychology. I love watching a story come together and watching a party be creative and build synergy and power throughout a narrative. Beyond games and stories, I love travel, music (playing and listening), the outdoors (biking, kayaking, skiing), and reading (history, culture, religion, and philosophy).

Character creation

Creating your character

Once you join the session, I'll invited you to a DnD Beyond Campaign and a Discord channel. In the Discord, you can discuss what classes everyone would like to play to come up with a balanced party. I'd be happy to help you build a character or plan out that balance within the party. Once you know what kind of character you want to build, you'll make it in DnD Beyond (the account is free). We will play using DnD Beyonds virtual tabletop (ambiguously called simply 'Maps'). Voice/video chat for the sessions will happen through Discord, which will also host a group chat for the party and me.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

-Join the game in Startplaying.games. -I'll message you a link to a Discord channel and DnD Beyond campaign. -If you don't already have accounts for those sites, you'll need to create them. Both are free.

What Chris brings to the table

This campaign will include some light roleplaying opportunities but will mainly focus on exploration and combat. This adventure was just published this month in the book Adventures in Faerun, so this you'll be one of the first adventurers to experience it! -I use visual backdrops for scene-setting during times when the party isn't on a map, along with thematic background music to help create ambience. -I set up combat to allow for tactical choices and maneuvering. I provide challenging combat and exploration encounters to test the party and keep things exciting. I set up open-ended social encounters that allow players to bring their characters to life and showcase their personalities. -I was a beginner not TOO too long ago myself, and I am happy and prepared to help new fans of the game learn the ropes.

Safety

How Chris creates a safe table

Normal rules of etiquette and propriety apply. If anyone is rude to/inconsiderate of another player, that will be addressed ASAP. If it occurs again or is particularly egregious, they'll be booted right away. If there are any specific concerns, players are always welcome to message me to address them.
