About the adventure

You lost something years ago. You didn't notice it immediately but when you did, you knew that you would have to get it back. And now that opportunity has shown itself. Welcome to the Wild beyond the Witchlight. Come into a world where laughter echoes under moonlit tents, strange magic hums in the air, and every choice might lead you deeper into the tangled web of fey intrigue. In this campaign, you and your fellow players will explore colourful realms of fey glamour and peril: from gleaming carnival lights to glimmering otherworldly woods, from playful pranks to serious consequences. Expect whimsy, wonder, and the uncanny, but there is room for heartfelt friendships, curious mysteries, and occasionally chaotic choices. This version of The Wild Beyond a Witchlight is perfect for players who love character-driven stories and a sense of adventure with a surreal edge. Whether you crave emotionally rich character arcs, roleplay-heavy sessions, or the occasional “go big or go home” moment. I do not charge for Session 0. If the cost of the session is too much for you, please message me and we can find a solution.

About me

Hi! I’m Susann, a DM who first and foremost believes the best stories are the ones we build together. I’ve been DMing D&D 5e (2024) for about a year now and while I love a good plot twist as much as anyone, my true joy comes from facilitating stories rather than writing them. My goal is simple: portray the world that reacts to your choices, celebrates your chaos and gives your characters the adventures they deserve. In my in-person home game my PCs are exploring Gullet Cove as awakened animals (Animal Adventure Campaign Setting from Steamforge Games) and are facing all types of different challenges from evil Rat Kings looking to overthrow the city to trying to establish a downline in a very lucrative triangle of trust. You might have the pleasure of seeing one of my pets in the background of my webcam (yes, I like play with video on). I have two cats - who both only have one eye - and one very elderly dog. I work full time and have two young kids. I am not looking to run multiple campaigns - simply because I do not have the time for that. So I will put my heart and soul into the campaign that I get to run.

Character creation

Creating your character

We will create our characters during our Session 0. We will use point buy or standard array, whichever you prefer. Use any material available in the campaign via content sharing. PHB 2024 The Wild Beyond the Witchlight Forgotten Realms: Heroes of Faerûn Lorwyn: First Light Eberron: Forge of the Artificer One-Shot Wonders: Holiday Adventure Pack If there is a specific homebrew class you would like to play - let's chat about it, but I would like to stick to the materials mentioned above.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

Join the Discord and start thinking about what kind of character you would like to play and what they might have lost. We will also work on this in Session 0, so no pressure, but deep backstories are also welcome. We will use Discord for voice, webcam and chat. DnD Beyond for Character Sheets and Maps.

What Susann brings to the table

I aim to create a welcoming, story-rich table where player choices matter and characters are at the heart of the adventure. This campaign leans heavily into roleplay, exploration, and social encounters, with combat used intentionally rather than constantly. The Wild Beyond the Witchlight is a fairy tale with teeth, and I love letting emotional moments, clever ideas, and character connections shine. I’m not a professional voice actor (unless “slightly different voice but with confidence” counts), but I love creating memorable NPCs for you to interrogate, befriend, annoy, bargain with, or accidentally adopt. I use ambient music and sound when it fits to help set the mood, and I enjoy running high-impact combat encounters when they make narrative sense and the table is excited to throw down. But keep in mind, there is plenty of room for creative solutions. Talking your way out of trouble is often just as valid as drawing steel, especially in the Feywild. I generally stick to the Rules as Written to keep things fair and clear, but I’m always open to the Rule of Cool when it adds to the story and the moment feels right. Sessions are collaborative and curiosity-driven. I love when players surprise me and we discover the story together. My webcam will be on, and I strongly encourage players to have theirs on as well. It really helps with roleplay and table connection. Sessions are run on Discord, and I use a transcription bot to help me improve and create session summaries. New players and veterans alike are welcome, and I’m always happy to help with character creation or refining character concepts. Above all, I strive to run an inclusive, respectful, and LGBTQ+ friendly table where everyone feels comfortable, heard, and excited to return.

Safety

How Susann creates a safe table

We will use Pause a Minute during the games and Lines and Veils will be filled out before Session 0 and outlined during Session 0. After each session, I'd like to do a quick stars and wishes - these can be done anonymously. I like using them to make sure you're getting the most out of the game. Pause a Minute: It lets players halt gameplay anytime. Say it aloud - or enter PAM in chat a DM to me to trigger a brief timeout. The group pauses briefly, then regroups after a quick check-in. You could use this when: Something in the game feels uncomfortable A subject appeared unexpectedly You need clarification Tension around the table seems too intense You just need a minute to take a breath
