About the adventure

This game contains a series of non-linier adventures that take you up and down the Forgotten realms. In this your party gets to decide to keep advancing with a specific group or mix it up as we travel the different lands of the Forgotten Realms. The first adventure is level 1, and ends at level 3. This is perfect for any group to move onto whatever other module or homebrew adventure they wish to pursue, or move onto the next adventure in D&D's latest book, Forgotten Realms : Adventures in Faerûn. Great for beginners or advanced.

About me

I have been playing some sort of TTRPG since 2003. I've been a GM for the vast number of those years. I got my B.A. in graphic design and game design and took acting classes in college. I've done a little bit of everything to become a pretty well rounded DM. Like a bard, I'm a jack of all trades, master at none. My games are often focused on some light humor and word play. I will often insert a joke to lighten the mood, but when the moment needs to be serious, I will give it room to breath. My tables can be challenging as I do appreciate a tactical game, however I will focus on playing fair. So as long as my players aren't being too self destructive, and utilizing the full breath of their abilities, they won't normally have any issues with my combats. Finally, my games are open minded and welcoming. All sorts are welcome and should feel at home. Taboos are respected and will be avoided if requested. No one should feel uncomfortable at my table unless that's the sort of game they want to play in. I am an adult and will run an adult game, however, I respect if anyone wishes to avoid any given topic or theme.

Character creation

Creating your character

Character creation will take place during a session 0. Any official D&D product is allowed however I'm willing to create homebrew for my players if they have a particular idea in mind for a character. D&D 2024 rules will be used.

What to expect

Preparing for the session

The primary things you will need are as followed: * Discord and a Mic. * D&D Beyond Account * For live games, Ability to use D&D beyond Maps.

What Herb brings to the table

I will provide everything you need to start playing and building your character in D&D Beyond for playing the game. Once in the game you can expect all of the following * Complex and often witty NPC's. * Emotional conversions in character. * Tactical Gameplay and a good mix of rule of cool vs rules as written. * A deep passion to make sure the game is a safe place for my players.

Homebrew rules

I have several Home brew rules, but an example of one is the following. Desperate Actions: When you fall unconscious and require death saving throws: you can give another player a desperate action: * They can disengage up to their speed. * Make a weapon or unarmed strike attack * Cast an attack cantrip * Take the dodge action which lasts until your next turn, not theirs. This gives the downed player some agency as they choose who to give this to, however a player can only receive a desperate action once per round.

Safety

How Herb creates a safe table

Between session 0 and session 1, I will interview one on one each person to go over anything that is fine to cover, use with discretion or are simply off limits. I will also have an open door policy in play so that if something they didn't realize would come up, or forgot to mention can be addressed right away and avoided going forward. Open dialog is key and making sure no one feels like they can't reach out to me over such things.
