About the adventure
Welcome to a world of danger, discovery, and old-school fantasy charm. Whether you're new to Dungeons & Dragons or a long-time player, this campaign offers an exciting return to the legendary Keep on the Borderlands, now reimagined for a modern audience. Explore the dynamic, open-world setting of the Borderlands, where your choices define the adventure. Will you brave the perilous Caves of Chaos, scout the untamed wilderness, or navigate the intrigues and colorful characters within the Keep's walls? Your path is your own, and every location is packed with mystery, treasure, and consequences that will shape the fate of the region. This campaign is a perfect starting point for new players, with a focus on classic fantasy tropes and a guided introduction to the rules. For veteran adventurers, it offers a fresh take on a beloved module, full of new secrets to uncover and deeper lore to explore. We'll use the 2024 D&D rules on D&D Beyond, creating characters together in Session 0 to ensure your heroes feel woven into the fabric of this living world.

About me
I'm a GM, teacher, and improv nerd who runs collaborative, character-driven games. I believe the best RPG stories are forged by the whole table, not written by one person. My background in teaching and improv helps me craft worlds full of heart and humor where your choices truly matter. My goal is to create a fun, inclusive space where we can build something truly epic together.

Creating your character
We will build and finalize characters together as a group during Session 0. No prior preparation is required. However, if you are eager and would like to start thinking about your character beforehand, please keep the following in mind: CHARACTER CREATION GUIDELINES: We will use D&D Beyond with the updated 2024 D&D ruleset. Please stick to the core rules for character options (species, class, background, etc.). All characters will begin at Level 1. BACKSTORY GUIDELINES: As Level 1 characters, your heroes are just starting their journey. Please craft a backstory with humble beginnings. Give us a glimpse of where they come from and what defines their personality. The great adventure will unfold during our sessions, so we want to discover your character's story together. Please keep your backstory to 250 words or less. We will collaboratively connect everyone to the world and the party during our Session 0.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
All characters will be created in D&D Beyond. A link will be provided after you sign up. If you don't have an account, creating one is free and quick. By joining, you'll gain full access to my D&D Beyond library, including all official books and third-party content. We will use the D&D Beyond character sheets and the integrated Maps VTT for rolling and gameplay. We will use Discord for voice chat. A server invite will be sent beforehand. Please ensure you have: - A stable internet connection. - A working microphone. - Headphones (to prevent echo). - Webcam (highly recommended but optional) All dice rolls will be made through D&D Beyond and set to public for everyone to see.
What Drew DiSario brings to the table
INTEGRATED PLAY: Use digital character sheets fully synced with the Maps VTT for seamless dice rolls and tactical combat. PREMIUM AUDIO: Experience the game through a boosted Discord server with professional audio equipment, immersive music/ambiance from Kenku FM, and real-time voice modulation for NPCs.
Homebrew rules
POTIONS OF HEALING: Drinking a potion yourself is a Bonus Action (roll the dice) or a Full Action for maximum healing. Administering a potion to an unconscious ally is always an Action and uses the rolled value. INSPIRATION: When you spend Inspiration, you may reroll any d20 after seeing the result. You then choose which of the two rolls to use. RULE OF COOL: Creative and narrative-driven ideas are always encouraged. If the rules don't clearly cover your ingenious plan, I'll make a fair, fast ruling to keep the game moving and fun.

Pre-Game Confidential Check-In: Upon joining, you will receive an optional, confidential Google Form to privately share your Lines, Veils, and any other preferences to help me tailor the experience for everyone's comfort. Session 0 & Ongoing Check-Ins: We will begin with a Session 0 to establish expectations and group norms. At the start of each session, we'll briefly check in and anonymously review any established boundaries to ensure a clear and supportive environment for all. Tools During Play: Breaks are always available. You can signal me at any time, either verbally or via a private message, if something is uncomfortable. I will adjust the scene immediately without question. Aftercare & Feedback: Following each game, I will stay for an optional debrief. This can be a casual chat or a structured "Stars and Wishes" session to share favorite moments and suggestions. Your feedback is essential and directly helps me create better games.
