Creating your character
All players will be guided through character creation at the start of the session. Prior to the game, each player will need to create a free account on D&D Beyond, the digital tool set we will be using for our characters.
What to expect
Preparing for the session
Create a discord account if you don’t have one to join the call. A link to the server will be sent your way upon sign up! You’ll need a space without a lot of background noise for the game. A simple microphone and webcam will do just fine!
What Andrew Neighbors brings to the table
My style is one of lively, theatrical play, inspired by actual play shows like Critical Role and Dimension 20. Complete with character voices and playlists of ambient music to set the tone of each scene. I will encourage you to speak as your character, though playing using a unique voice for them is entirely up to your comfort level! For character sheets and rolling dice, we’ll be using D&D Beyond. In combat, we’ll be using battle maps on the virtual tabletop Owlbear Rodeo for ease and clarity.
Homebrew rules
Expect a game that is pretty by the book for first-time play. Along with some room for rule of cool moves and player ingenuity. For those interested in the nitty-gritty, potions will be consumed as a bonus action, and the adventure will be filled with homebrew monsters and magic items tailor-made for the adventure.

Safety
How Andrew Neighbors creates a safe table
The tone of this is adventure is one of lighthearted fun that avoids many of the darker themes or levels of violence present in other D&D settings. Along with this, we will be using the X, N, O card safety tool system, which will be explained at the start of the game. There will be a quick 10-minute built-in break at the halfway point of the adventure.
